I wonder if that video of the kids is what made hin tear up. That'd kick me in the gut. That's for sure.
I would expect that it was.

This was a really cool interview. Ariel may be famous for his media work in the MMA world, but he is just a real guy and loves the Bills.

He is one of us when it comes to Bills fandom.

I think this somewhat got lost in the news shuffle, but it's actually exactly the sort of hire I've been clamoring for. Nielson is known for an attacking style with lots of press man and blitzing.

Do I want the Bills defense to become that? No. But my biggest issue with McDermott's defenses have been what an echo chamber the staff have been. Same concept for years on years with no voices ever coming in with new ideas. Nielson brings that. It's just a different way of thinking about defense and in an ideal world you can start melding some concepts together and hopefully the defense can take a step forward.

100%. Also added an assistant DL coach in Jason Rebrovich. Seems like McD agrees that Marcus West needs some help/competition.

I like that we're a spot for talented coaches who have fallen out of favor to come and revive their careers. Nielsen could be a continuity hire in the rather unlikely event that Babich gets tapped for a HC job next year.

If there is a shift, that would also lean towards Douglass being gone since he is/was mostly only effective in zone coverage.

I love the man/bump and run style defense. It requires typically a spy on the QB from running but I think Bernard/Milano are a nice tandem to keep the qb under wraps.

I def see a corner being taken in the top 2 rounds, assuming we keep all 3 picks. Elam is such a shame. be startable and we could load up elsewhere. Bust of a pick puts it nicely.

I don't even necessarily want the philosophy of the defense to change. And expecting it to I think is setting too high of expectations. What I want is for it to be more flexible and versatile. We went through a long process to give the offense more pitches, making it more multiple. Let's do the same thing with the defense.

Given how toxic Ravens fans were on Twitter when it came to the MVP debate over the last few months, I am not surprised that this is how they are handling Josh beating Lamar.

I am really surprised they released the way each person voted. Aside from the online racism and hate speech from fans, it also can sour relationships between media and players. Rationally it should not, but we have seen how players listen to every bit of noise about them.
