I’d like Brady to line up for the tush push with 6OL, 2 TE, FB, and power RB. Have the FB available to push Allen. Put the power RB at 3 yard depth and keep him as a threat to run to pitch wide.
The Bills did this one time against Seattle in 2005 with Bledsoe and McGahee. It’s hard to defend.

There were two line judges. Line judge on the far side gave us a bad spot on 3rd down. That same line judge was going to give us the 1st down on 4th and short. He deferred to the other side who gave us the bad spot. These decisions are made in seconds.
The only one would COULD have had their thumb on the scale was the ref who did the review made a bad judgement call. The same ref who didn't overturn the worthy catch. But that kind of stuff would require more evidence other than social media snooping that they liked a football team at one point.

It's not a vast conspiracy, it just adds to the frustration because the optics are so bad especially given the ref on the 4th and 1 spot that could see the ball better gave them the first and the one that couldn't didn't. And the guy with the better view of the ball deferred to the guy with the worse view...

The Bills' blue-collar culture makes this Ohio State product a perfect fit. JTT's a rugged edge player with upside as a pass rusher.
He seems like a high floor/low ceiling DE that fits the type that the Bills have taken at DE in the recent past.

Epenesa and maybe Boogie, yes. But Rousseau was a super raw athletic freak type that was high ceiling. With their first round picks, the bills tend to bet on traits (Allen, Oliver, Rousseau, Edmunds, Kincaid, Coleman)

I like that "Jumbo" better than Bills tush push formations (not all) with one or two flankers out wide, and/or having the RB tighter to the LoS.
Why? My assumption is the wideouts pose an easier d-matchup, and it's an obvious decoy which is doubtful to be used; and the RB closer to the LoS lacks the space and time to get wider faster for a potential pitch.
Also, w/o flankers on at least one side, you can more easily run a naked bootleg or option. If you go jumbo, defense will likely go bigger/slower across the defense end to end, vs. having a smaller d-back out wide who can cheat inside and risk a lob toss to the flanker if the QB adjusts on the option and seeks to throw vs. keep running.
But what do I know? I'm old.
The Stanley Cup is getting that way for me too. I've seen the final game and trophy presented every season since '74-75. This year would be 50 straight (lockout interrupted 51st). Given the lackluster state of the Sabres, I may tune in this year to reach 50 and then discontinue any/all playoff interest until the Sabres are in it (hopefully this decade). The weather where I live May-June is glorious and I've other interests and projects (although I did install a TV on the covered screened back porch I finished rebuilding in December, so maybe I'll reconsider this spring).

But, a bigger, edge setting DE that is a compression-style pass rusher is the type of DE that they have taken early as opposed to more quick twitch speed rush guys. And they do like DEs that can move inside on pass rush reps like they have done with Smoot a lot this year.

On defense, i think the big needs are DT, DE, and #2 CB. Im fine with Rapp/Bishop unless a player like DeJean falls to the 2nd round.

Obviously, early free agency will change team needs. But, as of today, I would be really disappointed if they go DB-DB-LB with their first three picks.
I could see the need to take a boundary CB early. A Swiss Army knife DB like Barron wouldn't be my first choice. This mock has Revel going 31 to Philly and I would like that fit better, as long as the knee isn't really bad.
I don't see safety being that big of a need as I expect them to have Rapp & Bishop as their starters. They could use depth there. But, I think that is a position to address on day 3.
And I don't even know that LB is a need in any way shape or form. They have Bernard and Milano coming back. They have Williams, Andreessen, Spector and Ulofoshio coming back, too. I really don't see the need to take an off ball LB anywhere unless it's a late day 3 guy.
Given how this mock plays out, I'd want the first to be either Revel, DT Kenneth Grant (39 to Chicago), or Edge Donovan Ezeiruaku (38 to NE).

Hot take: I'm ok with the CB2 solution being Ingram, Elam, a day 3 pick, and a very cheap vet battling for the position.

The tough part for me with that approach are a few things:
- Elam did not look better this year with the change at CB coach that we thought was not Elam-friendly.
- I love CB CB, but he gets hurt. A lot. And now he's coming off of back-to-back concussions.
- Ingram is a great story. But, leaning on him or Elam as the starter opposite CB is not ideal.
I could see that happening. But, I would be more nervous about that than I was about Brown & TB being starters ahead of the 2023 season and Damar-Rapp at safety in 2024.

I can see people wanting an offensive minded head coach to replace McD.
And he won a ring with a HOF QB that Josh looks up to.
I am not a "fire McD" guy. But, McCarthy would make more sense to me as a veteran coach who has been there and done that over hiring a hot name coordinator and rookie HC.

I don't even think of him as an offensive minded coach. He's certainly not an Xs and Os type guy that you envision. I wouldn't fire McDermott. I wish he'd be less involved with the defnese, but I think he's generally a good HC. If they were to fire McDermott, though, I'd want his replacement to be a young up and coming OC type, because that's the sort of ceiling you're shooting for if you move on. As ive gotten older the Super Bowl isn’t a much watch event for me unless I have a specific interest in. I think we’ll be out of town that weekend and won’t be watching

I wouldn't want a rookie HC at this stage in Josh Allen's career.
It took McD a number of years to figure things out. You probably have a 2-3 year learning curve for a rookie head coach.

Don't get me wrong. I'd trade Elam for nothing if we could find a taker to take on his cap hit (which I think is unlikely). But my broader point is I just don't think CB2 is a premium position in this defense and I don't think high investment has correlated at all to success (Benford and other late round/UFA types have been fine to very good, Elam and some FA tries not so much). I guess I just have faith in this defense to find workable play at the position, even if it's from an unspectacular player.
