The interesting thing about next year: what if the Hurricanes are in the playoff mix and/or are actually good? With so many big expiring contracts, it'd make for an interesting trade deadline in 2016.

Los Angeles as of today, is 2 points back of Calgary with a game in hand and 4 back of Vancouver with the same amount of GP in the Pacific.

They are 4 points back of Winnipeg and 5 back of Minnesota with a game in hand on each for a Wild Card spot.

Notable games today that affect the Kings Playoff Push:

Maybe I'm being too pessimistic (probably more realistic though ), but I'd be shocked if the Canes are good next year. Granted, we don't know for sure what the team will look like, but I don't see them signing any notable FAs and that Defense is scary.

It'd take a lot of bounces, but less talented teams have had better seasons.

Yep, which is why I'd be shocked. Sure it could happen, but a lot of things have to go right (no injuries, hot goaltending, no real "off years" by guys, etc...). Hard to say anything for sure until we know what the roster looks like though.

Kings fans in their thread are so impressed with Sekera they're already questioning if they'll be able to afford re-signing him. Not surprised though, he is great.
