I've thought about this, too. Obviously it's nice to not have to worry, because the Pens won 3 Cups. But I think Hossa is the most under-appreciated player I've watched in my lifetime. He was a BEAST all over the ice. I think he should have won a Selke. Guy just had insanely high hockey IQ. Could shoot, pass, and skate with the best of them, too. Shame we never got to see a prolonged period of Sid/Hoss together.

At the time we acquired him, Hossa was the best all around winger in the game. It's a hill I'd be willing to die on.

Now I'm imagining Letang showing up at the arena kitted out like Pimp C and lmao.

Elliotte Friedman said on the most recent episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast that Rust should have been selected for the four nations team. Rusty has been good lately but I don't know if I totally agree with that but it would have been neat to see.

The 4 Nations team ran by Sully and Guerin… I thought he was Sullys pet!!! :sarcasm:

I don’t know either but I do think he deserves to be in the discussion.

I think what gets lost with being overly harsh on guys like Rust (not saying that he’s amazing) is that sure they wouldn’t be super useful without playing next to a star center.. but there’s a lot of star centers in the league. And honestly there’s quite a few more dynamic than aging Sid and Geno. He could do this on a lot of teams.

I'm just gonna repeat that Rust is 32, also. That may appear to be a spring chicken on this team, but most guys aren't as good at 32 as they were at 25-27.

Exactly. Acting as though the guy is a creation of his centers - we are not talking the 2013-2014 versions of his centers here. They are adequate as far as top 6 centers go. One may even say "mid."

As a Canadian, I’d love it.

He gets in the right spots and has been taking advantage of some great play from 87 and Ricky. But I think the days of him skating from his own blueline with a quick give and go are over 5v5.

This might be old hat, but Rust really is the bee's knees. Anybody who doesn't think so is just being a wet blanket. He was a late draft pick who has surpassed what his ceiling should have been, yet he still gets left holding the bag according to you "fans". No matter, I bet the dolls really love him, because he's the cat's meow, a real dapper fella, consarn it!
