The Official Android Thread Part XV: Time For Some Oreo!

My mom upgraded from the S6 Edge to S7 Edge today. It's really, really nice. The blue is sweet.

Not gonna lie, I'd love to have both an iPhone and the S7 Edge to switch between every week or so. Such a slick phone with so many hardware tricks. Plus I miss having all my favourite classic games on my phone to use with a PS4 controller.

I love Samsung's hardware but I just really don't trust the battery life over the long run. Not because of the usual aging it goes through, but "Android System" always becomes a *****, even after a restore it still causes problems in my past experiences, and my mom's previous S5 and S6, cousin's Nexus, etc.

Man, I really miss the Note 7. Samsung hasn't dropped any news on a potential Note have they? I switched when Samsung screwed up my whole switch to the S7 Edge but they didn't have it in stock at any of the locations and wouldn't honor the $100 discount so I said screw it and went to Apple, they not only held the last Iphone 7 Plus 256 in stock for me at another location, but set everything up before I got there and it was done.

While it's been an interesting switch, I miss folders, I miss being able to download stuff on my phone, I miss the games and the apps that came with it too. Mostly, I miss the Stylus and the Note.

I knew you would eventually realize your mistake :)

Samsung has stated that they're releasing a note 8, if it's like previous versions it will come out late summer/early fall.

Haha, nah I would have always gone back if Note was back, I still play around with my Note 4 and look fondly at my fiancee using my Note 5 (of which she's ruined somehow, she's a nightmare with taking care of things...I fear for our unborn children).

Yeah I googled it after, just no release date. Which makes me wonder if they will release it this year. If the S8 comes out soon, then the Note 8 coming out later in the year...I better not see a product that is going to explode again.

I miss my Note 7. Not that the Iphone 7 Plus isn't great, it's a fantastic phone and I am happy with it, but I purposely switched from the Galaxy line to go for the Note series.

So I upgraded my creaking Galaxy S4 to a Oneplus 3T this month.

Holy moley, what a difference.

Kickass hardware with minimal manufacturer bloatware (always hated Samsung's preloaded junk), almost a stock Android experience. It even just upgraded to, uh, what is it now, 7.1 something? 64 GB storage, wicked battery life so far with a fast charger that somehow keeps all the heat in the charger; you can use a regular old charger too but the Dash charger is quite something.

$600 Canadian plus taxes and a case, arrived in less than a week, popped in my Bell sim card & I was off & running.

Mega thumbs up.

Full leak of the new S8 is out. It looks really cool, but the position of the fingerprint scanner is bad and I believe I saw a 3000mah battery.

Yup. I want this thing to succeed and push the envelope, but that scanner placement is odd. Have to wait until we see how the reviewers feel about it, or what other unlocking tech is included. Maybe Samsung has an ace up their sleeve.

Finger scanner placement makes sense to me. I'd prefer that over the home button scanner on my S7. I liked having it on the back of my 6P.

Actually this is where I would naturally place my finger

Really? I see people say that, and it leave me baffled.

Holding my phone as I normally do, my fingers aren't within two inches of where the fingerprint scanner is. None of them are even on the top third of the phone. It would be majorly uncomfortable for me to try and reach the scanner.

Alright so I just got the LG G5 and I want a cool clock and weather n **** for one of my screens what do you guys suggest? No minimalist text please i'm never happy with what I create.

Does anybody find that some of these phone enthusiasts care about the weirdest things?

Like I see these weird complaints around home screens and I can't even tell the difference between half of them but somehow everybody has some huge criticism of home screens. I've even seen criticisms of the framerate of homescreens when you swipe.

Are these real criticisms? This must be the loud minority speaking with some of this stuff.
