Do you guys think we could land bottom 5 again next year's draft?

Our team isn't as dogsh*t as some here may think. But at the same time the east especially is only getting better.

The only team I see rivaling the Habs out East are Philly. They'll finish dead last in east I'm sure of it.

The west I haven't really dissected yet. SJS, CHI are still bottom feeders to me. I can see NSH being ass next year too. ARI probably ass again and CGY could drop alot in standings as well

So let's just say:
#5 - MTL
#4 - CHI
#3 - SJS
#2 - NSH
#1 - PHI
We could be bottom 5 depending on the west. More likely we are between 5 and 10.
I said the same thing last summer and everyone was already convinced we were just too good to be that low.

And people were right! It took another historic number of games missed due to injuries for us to squeeze into the bottom 5...

Another stupid useless thread about losing. Fun.
Given that Hughes didn’t manage (or intend to) improve the roster, it’s hard to say if we’ve gotten out of the basement unless the kids step up in a substantial way.

No PLD, no instant top prospect (eg Fantilli, etc) to be a quick gamechanger.

Maybe Joshua Roy will impress but coming straight out of the Q, maybe not. Newhook is very much a work in progress.

I’m really turned off by tanking but I think we should expect the same upbeat tactics, with some fun wins, and some erratic losses — just as last year.

losing to draft the worst player in the top 10 baby. Let's get that 6'7 RW 20 points winger but who has Brett Hull + Steve Yzerman potential.

Sorry guys............awful thread.

We have been a joke since 2017 ( Thanks Bergy you fu%&ing idiot )
No way this continues....

We are in a very tough division. The only way we make ground right now is the collapse of Boston and Tampa, and when our rebuild hits the ample growth to accelerate past the other teams who have been rebuilding longer.

We won't be bottom 5 bad but we will still pick top 10.

The Habs are shaping up to look like Nashville about 10-15 years ago. Stacked on defenceman but didn't have the fire power up front to really compete. My biggest worry is they eventually bring in a defensive coach to fit the line up and try to win games 2-1. Hope I'm wrong.

People are over estimating our end result next year, we didn't improve our offense and the vets will only get worse. Our D is young and inexperienced and realistically will have a tough time.

We will pick between 4 and 8 pre lottery

I think we miss the playoffs, but are a more fun team to watch............we will be in the lottery mix, but thinking we pick 10-14 but that said would love to win the lottery and move up to 3-5 !

Always depends. We start the year against good teams but we are ending it against bottom feeder. So lets hope that we are sucking before christmas intensively so they start selling before we start getting points in the rankings.

Ideally, we finish bottom 5 for a last time. But I believe we will be between 5-10.
What do we have to sell?! Nothing that anybody else even considers.

What I'm hoping for out of this year:

- Progression from Suzuki - no 6 week slumps. 70+ points?
- Caufield scoring 40+
- Progression from Dach - plays center all year and scores 50-60 points
- Slaf starts to show signs of development, whether that's in the NHL or AHL
- Guhle stays healthy
- Average to poor goaltending ;)
- Top 10 lottery odds
