HF Habs: The official 2023-2024 tank thread

I'm really torn- I want a really high pick but I'm seeing the next three games in person.

The Habs are getting Florida and Tampa Bay after playing the Leafs the night before and it looks like the Habs are getting the backups for both games.

It kind of sucks they went on a bit of a heater and got points I wasn't expecting otherwise winning games this week would be a treat and not hurt draft position too much.

I'm thinking lose two exciting games against Florida and Tampa and then beat the Leafs on Saturday with Wifi dummying Reaves after a devastating hit on Matthews.

There is absolutely nothing to be torn about.
When you show up at the Bell Centre the entire experience is dictated by what happens on the ice.
Not once did I show up as a fan hoping for a loss period.
I've been fortunate I only had to leave early once.
So there was always something worth seeing LIVE that you just can't experience on your couch.
I hope that is how it plays out for you win or lose.

I do think this is the last tank thread. However…

Next year will be “We’re a little better!” thread. We aren’t going to make the playoffs unless there’s like some massive steps forward from like everyone, including the awesome Anderson and Gallagher.

I think we’ll be an 85 to 90 point team next year.

2025-2026 is when I expect us to start making the playoffs. Of course, wouldn’t mind it sooner but we’ll be sellers again next year.

We don't have alot to sell to be honest. I don't think they will part with Savard at the deadline for a 2nd round pick if we have the slightest chance at the playoffs. Maybe they trade Dvorak or Armia at 50% for a 3rd or something but it will be irrelevent at that point.

I don't expect us to get another 1st pick anytime soon. Maybe Matheson in two years if Hutson is ready.
 
A loss tonight coupled with a win by the Flames would make both Seattle and Flames almost unreachable.

We would be 7 points behind and we don't have the tie break so 8 points behind. With only 8 games left we would need 4 more wins than them. So even if we would win 6 of our last 8 they would only need 2 wins and a loss in OT in 8 games (2-5-1) to pass us. If we would win 4 games (4-4-0) they would only need an OT loss to pass us (0-7-1)
