We could also use prospect capital on the bullpen. Adding some big end relievers via trade like Scott Barlow and/or Emanuel Clase in addition to some buy-low guys would go a long way. In fact as much as I want Ramirez the bullpen and rotation is even a bigger need.

A few days ago, Brunt was talking about how the Marlins are desperate for a catcher, and have a surplus of arms. I wonder if we swing a deal with them using McGuire for a depth arm or Janssen or Kirk for some high-end arms.

Our lineup with Ramirez and Semien in it is going to be hell on Earth for any opposing pitcher

Springer - CF
Semien - 2B/SS
Vlad - 1B
Bo - SS/2B
Teo - RF
JRam - 3B
Gurriel - LF
Kirk - DH
Jansen - C

Regardless of whether we get Marcus back or not, I'd love to see how far the Jays can negotiate with Cleveland on Ramirez.

I'm curious who goes the other way in a trade though. Biggio is gone for sure and so is Jordan Groshans, good thing for the Jays is they have a large prospect pool to choose from and even if they give some away now, the teams going to be in contention for the next few years so they'll have lots of time to develop more guys in the farm.

Martinez and Moreno are likely untouchable unless Trout and/or Ohtani are the ones given in return

We can give them Jansen or Reese for a lowkey reliever that ends up becoming another Cimber for us lol
Reese. Jansen is way better defensively and his bat was one of the best on the team before the end of the season. If he is actually breaking out offensively he's MILES better. Going to be fun to see what happens for the back-up spot next season. Kirk can hit and Moreno was one of the best bats in the minor leagues this year.

Kimbrel has 5 ERA since trading Mandrigal for him.

White Sox need a 2B and an OF who can play some CF. They have 3 lefty bats in the lineup. Wonder if they would trade Kimbrel for Grichuk and say Kevin Smith it worst case Otto Lopez.

Grichuk could split CF and RF with Robert and Eloy and Vaughan split LF and DH.

I don’t want Kimbrel anywhere near this team lol the dudes just way too inconsistent nowadays. Plus we solved our closer problem now with Romano, he’s the best closer we’ve seen since Osuna (yes POS but that guy was darn good), and Jordan's just getting started

Yeah I keep forgetting Jansen was actually pretty good to end the year, I keep thinking back to earlier this year when he was getting out slugged by pitchers. Reese is probably the odd one out, he’s a solid player but the catcher position is getting very deep on this roster

If it makes anyone feel better we'd be getting slaughtered too in the Rays series.

Why are the Rays so good and are better as a team than other more talented squads? When you look on paper, don't the Jays have more talent than the Rays? Yet they will slaughter us. I don't get the Rays at all. They really have no business being good, yet here they are.

They have a bunch of guys who hit just well enough, a bunch of guys who hit for power, a competent pitching staff and good defense.

They’re basically the Islanders of MLB.

The difference in talent between closers and good non-closer pen arms is not worth the dollar value difference between what closers get paid vs non-closers.

Load up on talented, unheralded raw stuff pen arms and just go full thunderdome in the spring to make a pen.

I'm not moving Gurriel in a Ramirez deal. I would gladly pay bigger prospects to avoid it.

One thing we don't want to mess with is the chemistry. And Gurriel is one of our glue guys.

I think Ramirez is going to require one of Martinez/Groshans, Biggio, and an arm like Pearson or Hatch.

I agree 100% this guy literally was the face I remember all season pumping everyone up all season long !!! Hope Rogers opens the vault and spends the dough realizing the fans will fill the house. This was the best team in the American League post all star game I believe. These guys are serious contenders don't waste this opportunity Rogers !!

I proposed it more to get rid of Grichuk’s $10M in 2022 and $10M in 2023. Kimbrel has an option for 2022 so you can make the trade, not pick up his option and you have an extra $10M to work with this offseason.

Or trade him to a team that wants him or keep him. A lot of options.
