The guys at work don't really like Angel's Envy but I think it's a nice change of pace. You can really taste the sweetness from the port barrel finish. Quite smooth and finished cleanly. Some hints of maple but not overwhelming.

It's not really an every day bourbon, but if you're looking for something a little different I'd recommend it.

The liquor store I work at went down to the distillery and bought a barrel of small batch, I haven't tried that one yet but I'm guessing it's fantastic.

My buddy likes bourbon but rarely tries new ones so I got him a bottle of Angels Envy for a house warming present. It was the first I tried it too. It was good for sure but wasn't quite worth the price tag for me to buy again for myself. I saw him a few weeks ago when he hosted a pool party and walked in to see half a bottle of it in his liquor cabinet. I said "you must like it" since he bought another bottle and he cursed me jokingly saying he's spent thousands on it since. He said that's all he's buying now - he loves it.

Bulleit has been and will be one of my low cost favorites for a long time. That Eagle Rare is a nice midpoint in price between Bulleit and my other two favorites - Woodford and Blantons. Eagle has the flavor and complexity of a much higher priced bourbon. A signature of Buffalo Trace's offerings.

Bulleit also has a 10 year release that costs more and honestly, I didn't notice anything better about it other than the packaging so I wouldn't waste your money trying it - stick with their standard which is damn solid. The rye whiskey is good too.

Now the new kick is "not your fathers root beer" picked up a sixer last night, but haven't tried it yet. Taking a few on the boat this afternoon. My brother text me last night asking about it and where to buy it here in the south. He's in myrtle, so I to
D him food lion. He went to his local FL and bought then out. It's like $10.99 a sizer. 5.9% so it should give a kick. He said it's like crack...addicting and tasty.

That root beer is getting bought up by the pallet around here. People get to the local beer and convenience stores an hour early so they can buy it off the delivery truck before it hits the sales floor.

I had a few bottles at a co-workers house. It taste just like root beer with alcohol.

I have to read up on how its made. Wondering if they are adding the sweetener to malt liquor or what. It is good, but I think you have to put over ice. Its too sweet for me. I think I would only be able to have on or two at a sitting.

On a side note-(getting on my Soapbox)

I may sound like an old dude, but I have a feeling this trend towards tasty sweet alcohol drinks is going to make for trouble. When I think back to my HS days you had to kind of force yourself to like beer or liquor. Then there was Zima, or wine coolers, or Boones. That was pretty much it. Now you have flavored Vodkas, Beergaritas, those palm breeze things, flavored Schmirnoff ice, and so on. Some of these things just taste like soda or juice. I like them as much as someone else, but when you get 14 year olds that drink them and not really even know there is alcohol in them, it can cause trouble.

Hey we survived the Bartles & Jaymes, Boones Farm, Bacardi Breezers and Mad Dog 20/20 phase - the kids will survive the latest fad that is replacing those standards in the juke box. ;)

I will say none of that stuff we had as kids tastes half as good as anything like this.

I'm betting that stuff tastes better to you now than it would have back then just like the beer does, the whiskey does, and so forth. I mean I couldn't fathom doing a shot of bourbon without cringing and gasping in my youth. Now... meh. Hair on the chest am I right? ;)

I've had the root beer and yep - tastes just like good root beer but costs 5x as much. That said, I can only drink one root beer as it is before it's too much for me so I'm not their target I guess. Now put some vanilla ice cream in a mug with it and we might have the beginning of an addition. Alcoholic root beer floats and a chili dog ftw! Odd thing about the local B&K Root Beer Stand I grew up with was they called the chili dogs spanish dogs. They were a hot mess to eat too.

Should have posted a little while but, but turned 21 recently. And as October is officially here, I guess we break out the pumpkin beers, so what's your favorite pumpkin beer? (favorite beer in general?)

i usually only have a couple to try around this time of year, different ones…. but no way would i ever attempt to get loaded off a crate of it

no favorites, just what i see in the 'lc'

I hosted the wine tasting at our store tonight and they let me take home two 1 liter bottles of French blends. One white and one red. Very nice and very drunks.

Step 1: Pour a jug of apple cider into a crock pot

Step 2: Toss in 1-3 cinnamon sticks

OPTIONAL: Throw in a small pad of butter

Step 3: Turn on medium heat for 2 hours

Step 4: Add 1 part Blackheart 93 proof spiced rum and 1 part Evan Williams cinnamon bourbon, serve in a beer stein

Step 5: Float on a cloud for 7 hours

i'm sure this has been asked over and over again, but are there any devils bars in manhattan that anyone knows about? i have time to kill after work today and i'd like to go to one

We need to make a drinking game. One based off of what happens in the game and one based off Dano/Steve. This is what I have so far

Drink if:

Schneider completes a pass
Gelinas fires a slap shot
Devils hit the post
When Elias comes back, whenever he looks at the ceiling
Whenever Henrique or Gionta cleanly win a face off
Hynes pulls the goalie with more then 3 minutes left

Finish your drink if:

A Devil not named Henrique or Cammalleri score a hat trick
Gionta scores a goal

I can't think of anymore good ones for the first part

Drink every time Dano says "real" instead of "really".

"He got off a real hard shot there. Devils have been making some real good plays in the offensive zone Steve."

Really = very Ken.
Real = real as in let's keep grammar real and understand there is a real difference in using really good grammar on the air.

such a great wine buzz and awesome weather to be outside …….on the verge of being hammered but not…

a perfect day

perhaps make it a 'cloudy lung day'? hmm……..
