The old thread was closed at it's limit so enjoy . For my part the rumor that he was in discussions with PK Subban pretty much sums up his competency or lack there of . Looks like Arizona has dumped pretty much all the pieces we would want for very little return to our competitors so way to be " in on that Kyle " , I would have loved to take Dvorak off their hands .

Doesn't Dvorak make too much to be the 3rd line center here?

Round 2:

Christian Dvorak: Career high goals - 18. Career high points - 37. Number of 40 point seasons: 0. Age: 25. AAV: $4.45 million.

Alex Kerfoot: Career high goals 19. Career high points - 43. Number of 40 point seasons: 2. Age: 27. AAV: $3.5 million.

One of these players is looked upon as a great deal being acquired for a 1st and a 2nd, while the other is regarded as a cap dump.

Switch rosters and I'm sure Dvorak would have better numbers.
Not really a fair comparison, IMO.

So you are upset about a rumour you heard (that makes no sense) and also you wanted to trade a 1st+2nd for Dvorak and lose another player in the process.
I mean....aren't unfounded rumours iron-clad reasons to call to fire someone and call them a A........ in a thread title?

The thread title itself spells out everything anyone needs to know.

So what you are saying is that every single comparison made on these boards is not a fair comparison.

This I totally agree with.

I tend to think of Christian Dvorak as a Tyler Bozak level player. Good combination of skill, smarts and versatility that a non contender is going to use in key situations and roles beyond what’s ideal. Clearly better than an Alex Kerfoot though.

I'm only referring to this instance. Just trying to keep things in perspective.

Criticizing, for believing in a bad rumour, as well as a bad trade, that didn't happen... alright.. peak looking for a reason to complain.

I mean, there are valid reasons to complain, but this isn't it.

Dubas is on the clock. Some criticism fair others not. Nothing left to talk about until the season is over. A successful year he’s back,a failure he’s gone.

I do think this is the team's last opportunity to do something positive in the playoffs.

But I don't really see Dubas having any better on-ice stats this year. I don't think he's going to step up in the playoffs, or make a key save, or knock someone on their butt.

Regardless of contracts, if your number 1 line isn't leading the team, that is the biggest problem.

If he can't get this team first in the division, fired.
If he can't get this team into the final four, fired.
If he can't sign Rielly to a Parayko deal, fired.
If Marner doesn't score 5+ goals in the playoffs, fired.
If he mortgages our future again, fired.

He backed himself into this corner.

nobody expects this team to finish first in the division. Nor does this team have to go final four for him to retain his job. Also teams leading their division, with aspirations of a deep run, trade picks for players. Not gonna be fired for trying to give them the best chance to win. Dubas doesn’t control how many goals Marner (who isn’t a goal scorer even) scores in the playoffs

dubas has his issues. There are legit complaints, but these aren’t them

Another failed year and change has to start somewhere.
If you don’t want to move the Backstreet Boys, someone else has to shoulder the responsibility for change then. Coach or GM.

Dvorak paced for 25 goals, 45 points last year at age 24. Kerfoot paced for 11 goals, 33 points last year at age 26.

The year prior (Dvorak age 23, Kerfoot age 25):
Dvorak: 21 goals/44 points
Kerfoot: 11 goals/35 points

When Dvorak took the next step and upped his game, it was the beginning of two covid shortened years. You're comparing those to Kerfoots 80 game seasons.

Whose bright idea in MLSE was it to hire a rookie GM with absolutely no experience in negotiating contracts the keys to the team immediately before all the core was up for new contracts?

Lou Lamoriello should have been retained, at least until after Matthews, Marner, and Nylander were signed.

Dubas acted like a teenager whose father just gave him a supplementary credit card for the first time, and he was placed in the middle of the Eaton Centre mall.

He maxed-out that credit card (ie. salary cap) very quickly on overpriced (Matthews and Marner) and unnecessary (Tavares) items.

Dvorak reminds me of any players who got good minutes due to lack of talents on the team. Kind of like a leading scorer on bad NBA teams since they will average 20pts plus due to needing someone to take the shots.

I could be wrong though since I only seen him play against the Leafs or Nucks or Oilers and that was two seasons ago.

Kerfoot is Mr. Average. Average in everything he does, a typical 3rd wheel on a line.

What if it was Lou who wants to leave as he doesn't want to deal with those contracts?

If Lou wanted to leave, then you bring in someone else with experience.

I have seen high-school students participating in "mock negotiations" as part of a business class assignment that have shown better negotiating skills than Dubas.

Him going down to the final few minutes with Nylander and then giving Nylander exactly what he was asking for should have been Clue #1 that Dubas had no idea what he was doing and was in way over his head.

He essentially gave players a blank cheque even though they had accomplished nothing.
