Another "non-singer" star who had previously surprised me was Wayne Brady.

I feel exactly the same. What he does with Slash is the same

I feel like Alterbridge could have been as big as Foo Fighters and Shinedown. But somehow got missed in the mainstream/radio. Their songs are quite long is probably why since it doesn't fit the typical 3min song format they play.

His work on Sax Man w/ the Lonely Island is marvelous as well.

And a couple Tenacious D songs are actually good songs outside of the comedic appeal.
