Rare

On Tubi right now for free,

Old Dragnet from the 50s. Before it stopped and restarted in 1967

This particular episode is special because we don’t have old footage like this of a Younger

Lee Marvin

If you a fan you will love this.

Watched Juror #2 last night.

I knew Clint Eastwood was old, but had no idea he was 94.

He did a decent job with the movie. The central dilemma is interesting, but felt like it was delivered in a very underwhelming way. The script felt kinda flat.

The other jurors were just cardboard cutouts. Very stock.

Just finished Shogun. I enjoyed it, but was there a particular reason why Blackthorne looked constipated half the time?

holy crap those look bad. It's a live action movie with real people like Gal Gadot as the Queen, the lead from West Side Story remake as Snow White... and I know there was the whole Peter Dinklage saying 'little people' being cast to play dwarves is demeaning stuff, but wow.

Did you have to go uncanny valley for CG characters? Couldn't they have gone force perspective like LOTR or something?

These dwarves look as plastic/fakey as the ones we had as Christmas ornaments in the early 1980s.

CGI is somehow getting worse. Maybe the new artists just aren't as talented as the ones on the way out. It's baffling. Those dwarves look atrocious though.

Unrelated:

Anyone watching the show FROM? It's a LOST-esque mystery series but with sci-fi/horror elements. Highly recommend if you like that type of thing.

It’s bad but it’s better than what it was before the outrage.

Is it baffling? They’re not getting worse, which isn’t possible with better tech — the best examples show how amazing it can be. It’s a business choice to overwork special effects people because they cut corners in other areas and rush deadlines. If people pay to see this CGI slop, then you’ll continue to get slop and more of it.

I did some research this afternoon and apparently Covid had a big impact on VFX studios. They've been overworked and on condensed schedules due to studios pumping out more movies than usual to make up for their Covid losses.

Some of the CGI in Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness are just laughably bad.

Saw Gladiator II. The CGI is distractingly bad, particularly the animals. It just feels rushed as all hell.

I’d say it’s also due to the great CGI that has been out there that we are able to spot the bad cgi easier
