His face from that picture was used in a multitude of memes that transcended the hockeysphere. Sounds kinda "famous" to me.

Could be. But i think, the purpose of this thread is, to show photos of the most important moments in hockey history.

Something like this:

Toothless Booby Hull and Stan Mikita. Dont know, what a celebration they have. Anybody?

^^^^ I've never seen that photo before. Is it famous?

This one is certainly well publicized. It's been in Sports Illustrated and hockey history books, blogs and newspapers.

I can't think of any very famous photographs with Mikita. But this one from the HHOF I've seen several times before.

^^^ Yeah thats a classic. Lots of photo's floating around of Hull's arrival in Winnipeg, airport, Portage & Main etc.... I always got/get a chuckle out of his middle name.... "Marvin"..... seems so, I dunno, "incongruous"? Like a Stop sign posted on a 6 lane highway or something.... Nothin "Marvin the Martian" about Bobby Hull.... also if your from Toronto & of a certain age, remembering Starvin Marvins Burlesque Palace (seriously old school, comedians in between the acts etc, was situated down around Yonge & Dundas where the HMV store is now) & given Hull's propensities to womanize, well, cant help but  .... and laugh & laugh &:laugh::laugh:

I guess the video is more famous but still...

Funny thing is that many people believe that it was sort of spontanious celeberation. I believe it was well planned...
It wasn´t the first time that he used that celebration. When Jokerit won the 1992 championship he used that after scoring goal in decisive game

Also a bit of backstory. There was this cult player Mauri Eivola (drafted by Sabres). When Selänne was asked in 1991 in interview what is his favourite goal celebration he roughly answers. "Mauri Eivola´s. That´s unbelievable one. At times he threw his glove in the air, threw himself on ice, and started to shoot that glove with his stick..."

So Mauri Eivola never made further than Rochester Americans, but he inspired one the most famous goal celebration in NHL history... :)

This is already classic. The first time when Patrick Kane was on the hockey card (the young boy watching the game right above).
Sylvain Turgeon’s 1994/1995 Pinnacle hockey card.

...but my second pick would be Tuomo Ruutu after playing his first game for Carolina.

Brutal. Hadnt seen that one before. Reminiscent of the similar shot taken years earlier of Borje Salming... and VanIsle... you have a picture of the statute of Roger Neilson outside of Rogers Arena holding up the white towel?... so famous they had it memorialized in bronze.
