In front of a record crowd too. Sort of a theme since the first season in the AHL.

I was at the game...it was pitiful to watch. Bunch of professionals can't make successful, unimpeded, open ice passes. Daniels has to go after this year, he's gotten far too comfortable in the organization and obviously has no accountability. I saw far better hockey out of the Checkers when they were in the ECHL...absolutely embarrassing.

This is the most depressed I've been as a hockey fan. Short of winning the draft lottery, I'm really struggling to imagine *wanting* to start back at square 1 in October and go through another 7 months of this.

The night is always darkest just before the dawn.

Just kidding, we're ****ed.

Are any prospects ready to make the jump to the NHL level? Tolchinsky? McGinn?

What free agent is going to want to come here? Think our defense is bad now? There's no way we can replace Sekera this summer. Eric and Cam have peaked and are on the decline. Semin's wrist may never fully heal. Skinner is too scared to do anything in the offensive zone but skate sideways around the perimeter and turn the puck over.

Faulk, Lindholm, Rask, and a handful of prospects are the future, and maybe good scouting, drafting, and development will dig us out of this hole, but we're stuck in limbo in the short term.

This draft won't change anything, because no one olayer we're getting at 5 can change us on his own. The only positive is that Francis seems to get it. Can't turn it around with anything other than drafting and development. There's no trade to fix this.

We are unlikely to be much better next year. I didn't watch tonight. I always watch. Says something for me personally. I don't care enough to watch. This is a **** show.

That's been my view as well Bleed and have been saying so for a while. It's going to get worse before it gets better, but for the first time in a long time, it seems like our GM has a plan and a vision to build the team through drafting/developing, so I at least see that as a silver lining. There are no shortcuts as there is no trade to fix this and no UFA signing to fix this.

Unfortunately, that means another crappy year or two before a plan like that can change the team for the better, unless of course we luck out and win the lottery.

Yep, we're still a good 2-3 years away yet. Only good news is that Francis so far at least seems to be the anti-JR. He actually has a plan and so far hasn't been willing to trade away futures for assets that would otherwise take the team from **** that's not going to sniff the playoffs to **** that still won't make the playoffs.

There's a few positives to be sure this year though.

Cam rebounded and may actually be movable
Rask showed that he could handle an NHL roster spot a full season before he was expected to be ready
Faulk broke out in a big way this year
Lindholm keep getting better
We're building a pretty nice blueline the right way in what will center around Faulk, Fleury, and McKeown. Biega actually seemed somewhat competent in his look, and he may have earned a bit of an extended look next season at the very least.

the big problem is the big money guys. Frankly the Vegas expansion can't come soon enough because we'll leave Semin unprotected and they'll claim him because of this thing called a cap floor. I was honestly hopeful it would be this year that they'd announce it, but it is what it is. Skinner had a **** season, and the Staal's didn't have anywhere near good enough play to carry the load for the team.

We really do need to get as much skill and depth as possible over the next 2-3 years though, because our team as it's built right now isn't a threat to anything. We're not bad enough to be a threat to Arizona or Buffalo for Matthews next year, we're not a threat to push for the playoffs even if we do pick up a couple real nice UFA dmen.
