Listen here, tomatoes have their role and they are delicious. But they are more Steve Buscemi than they are Brad Pitt (don’t judge me on my choice of actors, they are the first to come to mind).

I also am displeased anytime I would use a tomato in lieu of a chicken breast. Or a slice of steak.
Believe me, I'm the last guy you'd expect to talk up a meatless sandwich. It just works for me somehow.

So I worked in Center City then headed home for second half of the shift. Decided a stop at Donkey's Place was in order. I'm about to hit a food coma.

Tomatoes are trash and belong only in the garbage.

Sauce

Salsa

Guacamole

Topping for a sandwich (not a primary constituent)

Topping for a taco (not a sandwich)

Skewered with a fresh chunk of mozzarella and a basil leaf with a balsamic drizzle

Bruschetta

Throwing them at people with terrible food takes.

What’s wrong with you dude???

Fresh tomato salsa, with fresh peppers, onion celery, fresh basil, sea salt, cracked paper, and a blend of red and balsamic vinegar. Pure heaven.

I should rephrase - raw tomatoes are trash. The only thing tomatoes are good for are your first two things here, and ketchup.

@Starat327 i need help asap
The beer distributor near me had some bottles of goose island bourbon country left. I picked up a 2019 brand wheat wine ale.
I swear I had it before but this time there is a ton of floaters in it.

Did it go bad? Do I need to stir it or sift it or some shit. I swear last time it was the same color but nothing suspended in it.

@Striiker where’s @Starat327 at? Go interrupt his onlyhands stream. I need his assistance before I drink too much of something that could be bad.

A tomato, fresh picked from your garden, sliced to wedges, a little salt and pepper!! The whole difference is home grown and picked perfectly ripe. I will agree with you that supermarket tomatoes are trash. They are picked early and too hard. Some places even chemically ripen them. That is trash. Get them from a fresh farmer stand, and you may well change your mind. The next 2 months are prime time.

I pick all the remaining tomatoes,, even the full green ones, just before the first frost, and ripen them in the basement under newspaper. They end up tasting like supermarket ones.

Yeastie boys. Not bad for the taste or your health, but definitely unappetizing looking.

You got any tips to repelling rabbits from the garden? I’m about to set some snares and have smoked rabbit but I don’t think the kids or my local law enforcement would care for that b

Speaking of maters. Whipped ricotta and honey toasted tomatoes with basil.

Tomatoes and basil came from the garden—my grape tomato plant is overproducing.

Used some boujee honey that we spent way too much money on a while back and then never used. Drizzled some of the rosemary honey on the tomatoes and roasted that. Mixed some lavender honey into the ricotta plus some lemon juice and blended with some olive oil into smooth.

Not a bad first effort. Actually under seasoned. So meh…

Why in the hell is non supermarket honey so damn expensive?
One school that I went to for a bit, had a spring fair if I recall right. We sold jars of absurdly expensive honey, but we also sold essentially pixie stick sized sticks of different flavored honey that was 4/$1. The mint honey was delicious.

Edit. Love of god, love of gif. Whatever.
