The Loss of Broberg and Holloway Gripe Thread

St. Louis appears to be on a mission, circa 2019.

What if Holloway and Broberg hoist a Cup before McDrai.

Ugh.
Honestly might be a good thing. The biggest message to Katz that what he is doing isn't remotely close to working.

The Oilers should have matched Holloway but his injury history probably played in to their decision not to do so (as of this morning he is not expected back for the first playoff round). All things considered though it was short sighted when you look at the money they spent on others who will be getting on the bus for new destinations come July.

The positive take away is that Oiler management (I hope) will look at their best prospects with more patience and planning in the future.

The recent European signings indicate that maybe a light bulb has gone on and they realize that re-tooling won't wait until Mc-D and Drai retire. Perry and Ryan will be almost 50 by then. I forget how old Gordie Howe was when he played his last game.

Thats what happens when an agent plays GM For A Day. Jeff Jackson let Holland be a dead man walking and Holland shoved it up Jacksons ass by leaving Holloway and Broberg unsigned and the rest is history.

The wise move would've been to give Holland a short-term failure promotion to "alternate governor" or something (ala Kevin Lowe and Bob Nicholson) after the 2023 playoffs, and promote Staois to GM instead of letting him walk to Ottawa.

Or, better yet, hire Bill Zito in 2019 like they seemed to have been ready to do before they kicked him to the curb so they could hire Kenny.

Or, even better...never, ever...ever hire Peter Chairelli!
