In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord ServerOn a night we are going 11/7 with an AHL lineup.Update; Holloway with his 25th
Kulak is an overpaid 3rd pairing Dman that contributed on the goal that cost us the cup.All of those other guys were signed long before SB got here. Get your info straight to begin with. So remove a vet in Kulak that is playoff battle tested, and take your chances on a green kid that has been oft injured, and only shown a few flashes in limited time, all during a cup window, especially after removing another vet in Ceci. Right.
Holloway has stated that it wasn't so much the money, but the opportunity offered in the Blues offer. In signing both Skinner and Arvidsson, it was clear that opportunity was not going to happen. Did SB sign Skinner and Arvidsson?
Your simplistic approach and solutions are neither viable or reality.
He scored again lolThe funny thing is that there was probably only a handful of us that saw Holloway as a potential top 6 guy here. Most were saying that he would be a 3rd liner at best. I can say that I didn't expect him to be quite this good but I believed in the player. Most lamented the loss of Broberg much more. Holloway is a gamer, always has been. Regardless of what Broberg does, he's the one that we screwed up on royally. I think that he was let go of because of principal and right now that principal is biting us on the ass in a big way.
Might want to expand your view based on more than one goal, lol.Kulak is an overpaid 3rd pairing Dman that contributed on the goal that cost us the cup.
2.75 on the third pairing is a luxury most teams can’t afford. He can play is short bursts on the 2nd pairing but barely keeps his head above water. It should have been an easy call to replace him with your 8th overall pick with top pairing potential for the next 10 years over a guy that will be gone in a year. Broberg even outperformed Kulak during last years playoffs which should have been a sign to do what it takes to get him under contract.Might want to expand your view based on more than one goal, lol.
I’d rather he sell the team. Dude is poison.Man wish Katz had X. Need to tweet his ass to fire these 2 clowns immediately. Instead of being clowns for creating a petition to remove Gretzky Drive, how about create a fn petition to fire this management. This is an embarrassing roster. McDrai know it, thats why they dont give a fxxx this year. These 2 clowns just trolled the entire fanbase. Katz is a joke for letting it happen again.

Colorado was in win now mode when they won the Cup with a defence that had a rookie and two sophomores in the starting 6. Win now doesn’t mean throwing away future stars to keep a third pairing Dman or signing players in their mid 30’s to block these players. Every team has replaceable players like Kulak.Broberg and Nurse pairing got caved in last years final.
Oilers are in win now mode, not breaking in rookie mode. Kulak has proven to be a solid playoff performer.
Or … as you posted above the kid allowed himself to be manipulated over 500K x 2. That leads me to believe that he didn’t want to be here either and all his feigned surprise and crocodile tears after the fact was nothing but an act. Bottom line, these players put pen to paper at the worst possible moment for the Oilers. Some ‘fans’ here want to cheer the Blues initiative and their read on ‘the changing market’ (This tells me that our suspicion that Holloway was let go over hurt feelings is true, and that is incredibly unprofessionally by anyone involved, whether they are management, or a player.
I don't think you can blame a kid for taking a guaranteed contract for 2 years when the Oilers apparently were barely even negotiating. It isn't "selfish" to look after your salary when your employer isn't doing that for you. Another mistake made on the part of the team. If they had prioritized signing him earlier, we wouldn't have went through the situation at all, but they were trying to squeeze him into another cheap one year deal most likely. NHL players career earnings are high, you are right, but taking a team friendly short term deal is a mistake in a career when a single injury can end your career.Or … as you posted above the kid allowed himself to be manipulated over 500K x 2. Other fans understand that teammates trying to win the ultimate prize would take a very dim view of their selfishness - especially Holloway because the money is peanuts compared to a NHL players career earnings.
Kulak is one of the best bottom pairing defensemen in the league. He isn't that easy to replace, and expecting a rookie like Broberg to come in and anchor a solid bottom pairing would be foolish. Regardless, he wanted out because the team held him back for too long.Colorado was in win now mode when they won the Cup with a defence that had a rookie and two sophomores in the starting 6. Blues are only 2 points back of the Oilers now....looks like they took the money AND to be a big part of a Championship caliber teamOr … as you posted above the kid allowed himself to be manipulated over 500K x 2. They also have a Cup in the McDavid era. We missed the playoffs that year. That not a fair statement compared to a team like the blues. We are in the playoffs every year and have gone far a few times.
Very different.
This was the biggest fail. Kulak is replaceable. You saw something from your 8th overall pick…playing his off side. Holloway also had his coming out party during the playoffs. You drafted and developed these guys. Letting them go was stupid. Nickle and diming them was stupid. Friedman reported Broberg’s ask was 1.8M and Oilers offered 1.2M. How much are we paying Klingberg again?2.75 on the third pairing is a luxury most teams can’t afford. He can play is short bursts on the 2nd pairing but barely keeps his head above water. I still don't think we can blame our current management duo for Broberg. Holland strung him along for way too long, refusing to give him a chance to make an impact. By the time we gave him that chance, he was already looking at moving on. The real mistake with Broberg was not trading him earlier in the summer or at the draft for something more valuable than the 2nd round pick we already used on a guy who hasn't played for us yet (I'm not really critical of the Frederic deal yet - but if he doesn't return from injury soon, I will begin to really question it). Management knew he wanted out, knew he played well in the playoffs - they should have been prepared for the offer sheet. And they should have just given Holloway the 1.8M deal he was asking for. There's no way to spin that these offer sheets came about because the Oilers mismanaged the situation for both players. I don't blame them for walking away from the 4M offer for Broberg, but I will forever blame them for not fitting Holloway in, at the expense of 1 year of Jeff Skinner. Even if Skinner had fit in right away and scored 30 goals/60 points, 1 year of him shouldn't have been more important than extending Holloway and keeping him under control. This was the biggest fail. Oilers knew and have said publicly that Broberg will be a top 4 NHL d man. They refused to move Kulak- a journeyman 3rd pairing D man to make way. Stupid team does stupid things. Reason number 4789 that McDrai don’t have a cup
