maybe, but it unblocked because of the deleting of the database. All the thread and posters i've block since last march are unblocked now, well, until i reblocked them. Its not the mods in this case.

I would have loved to see Kulak traded so I wouldn't have had to listen about how good the Kulak is ever again. That would have been a fantastic start. I said they had to move Kulak a hundred times before the season started and I heard a thousand times that Kulak is a great player. Gaslighting.

Moving Kulak would have opened up a natural spot for Broberg. We still have posters insisting Broberg would be behind Kulak. Today Broberg is top 4 defenseman on any team. Lots of teams have players in the minors that are superior to Kulak.

Kane to the LTIR to start the season over accruing cap space, I beat a hole through that frickin drum.

Tell me, when was the last time you heard someone say Kulak was the perfect fit in Edmonton? The insidiousness of it all is what makes me sad.
Brett Kulak is highkey one of the worst moves in Oilers history. It was bad on day 1 when we acquired a player who got healthy scratched halfway through the Habs Finals run, citing "hometown kid who was a key part of Montreal's Cup run" lol. Then it got even worse when the Habs picked up a likely future star in Lane Hutson with the pick we donated to them. Then we re-signed a guy who needs to be sheltered as a NHL veteran to a 2.75 million dollar AAV deal preventing us from actually getting some value contracts or upgrading a key position instead of a luxury #5 dman. Then we refused to move on from him and jammed up Broberg's lineup spot and prevented the development/opportunities of a vastly superior player. Kept giving him coddled minutes in the playoffs where fans who can't tell the difference between playing against Adrian Kempe vs playing against Carl Grundstrom dubbed him "a playoff stud". And to top it all off, this loser single handedly loses us Game 7, including some of the worst defensive coverage and gap control in NHL history on the Stanley Cup losing goal against, and somehow got out of it scot free. Zero criticism. Zero blame. Zero media attention. Zero accountability. When you know if that had been an overhated player like Darnell Nurse, Evan Bouchard, Philip Broberg, or heck even Cody Ceci in that same spot, we would be talking about that disastrous goal against for years. But because he's the hometown boy and the "respectable veteran", we can't criticize him.

You picked the perfect world with regards to Oilers fans/media narrative on Kulak: Gaslighting. f*** this player.

Block posts without indentation and the kitty gets it.

Carl Grundstrom. lol. Where is he now? What a nothingburger player. Guy has a deformed Jaw and looks like a pitbull so everybody thinks he' tough. How do smooks like that even get to the NHL?

Haha I was too busy typing in a fit of rage to worry about syntax.

Carl Grundstrom is helping the San Jose Sharks go for a top draft pick, very successfully might I add. A highly efficient -14 in just 45 games at 9 minutes per game. And I'm supposed to believe that Brett Kulak is this irreplaceable playoff god because he handles players like Grundstrom well.

heh. I'm amazed this tool ever got to the NHL or is even staying around. He's a fantastic disaster. I think early indications were he was a bowling ball knocking over players but really materialized into nothing. Kings a few yrs ago had about half a dozen players like this that were just nothing. Even with the shiny helmets on.

I hear you and that moron Holland also screwed up badly by letting the even bigger moron Woodcroft jerk the players around so bad. That idiot coach felt Desharnais was better than Broberg.

However Jackson was also Hollands boss and should have played the rank card and insisted that Holland sign or trade the players. He knew Holland was a dead man walking anyway and wasn’t coming back.

So Jackson let Holland let Woody f*** these players around. Dumb, dumber and dumbest. Oiler player development is pathetic.
What makes our upper management types make the absolute worst decisions possible at categorically critical times? In general people make more good than bad decisions every single day. What exactly do you suppose happened with all of the Oiler's management groups? What answers could there possibly be?

Walman would be much better for the Oilers going into the playoffs than Broberg if we could only have one of them.

The Oilers just traded for Frederic and Kane is also returning. I wouldn't say the Oilers are dying to get Drai a winger lol
Not true. Broberg is a better defenceman than Walman. Broberg is 23. Walman is 29.

id still rather have holloway than arvidsson, skinner, everyone else in the bottom 6. for his price point we should have probably kept him, but its done so too bad for us. maybe internally im just mad cause i was gonna buy a holloway jersey

Walman is a better dman than Broberg at the moment. I would take him over Broberg for the playoffs today guaranteed. But saying that.. Broberg is much younger... so in the future Broberg might turn out better.
I see rare qualities in Broberg's game. I'm not saying he's going to be a star. Never once did I qualify him as that.

He's well on his way to becoming the next Bouwmeester, and I do believe, because of these qualities, that Broberg is the better player today and more rounded for the playoffs.

This will be difficult for some posters to accept but it's my opinion. Bouwmeester was an underrated player, a necessity for building a champion. Now we don't have that.

Bouwmeester was a star player earlier in his career, he went to Calgary and things stalled for whatever reason. He then later in his career settled into being more of a role player.

But he was definitely at one point like a star no.1 D.

I identify defencemen you win with, they usually aren't described as "star players". I look for players with unique underrated skill sets that I see repeated over time.

When a defenceman becomes truly good at aspects of the game they likely aren't going to put up a lot of points. They sacrifice a lot of potential offence for the "art of their position". And the art of the position is subjective.

Broberg would be playing 3rd playing behind Walman if he was still an Oiler. Broberg is all about potential. His potential might be the next Walman one day

I got nothing against Walman. I love how he handles the offensive blueline. Like Giordano. I've never seen Giordano's equal at keeping the puck in the offensive zone. Elite footwork from a player with average speed.

Bouchard could use a little more of that footwork. Some can be taught, some of it is fast twitch muscle... reactionary genetic gifts.

Broberg is going to be an elite puck transporter. All he needs is reps. He's going to do the same thing every shift and he's going to do those good things for more than a decade. Denying it isn't going to make anything better.

Couldn’t have said it better. You don’t let a player like Kulak block a young, upcoming potential star defenseman. STL now has their next top pairing guy for the next 10 years because management was worried about their overpaid bottom pairing Dman and the “you can only play veterans” to win a Cup. It’s not like Colorado just recently won one with Makar and Byram on D.

The Kulak pushing is remarkable and It's still going on. Why? Deniability.

It's too late, the deception was successfully committed.

I'm 100% sure about this post.

Probably deniability, remember he's a local guy like shit Skinner, so they must be absolved from any criticism
At least Skinner is finally getting (rightfully) shit on for his awful season. I still see more people blaming Bouchard/Skinner for the Game 7 loss than the player who single handedly lost that game.

And to be fair to the Oilers, we're not the only team with the veterans blinders on. Team Canada picked the likes of Alex Pietrangelo, Drew Doughty, Colton Parayko, and Travis Sanheim over legit studs like Evan Bouchard, Thomas Harley, and Noah Dobson. And sure enough when Team Canada got lucky with the Pietrangelo injury and a bit more unlucky with the Theodore injury, they got to bring in Harley as the emergency replacement and he was the 2nd best dman on the team while carrying the dead weight that is Drew Doughty, compared to the likes of Sanheim and Parayko who got hemmed in every shift.

Broberg's stats have him at a first pairing rates for both offense and defense.

I would argue that Walman is providing close to that for less money, but Broberg is better now and will be considerably better in the future imo
