so where do you play him? 4th line c spot?
In Oshawa. If he's on the 9 game trial? 4th line center.
Simmonds only had 9 more points than he did in his second season. His shooting percentage was up, but it's conceivable that he is a legitimate 25-goal man.
-DLeedCouturier, Wellwood, McGinn, Schenn, Rinaldo, Laughton will all be at #Flyers training camp.
So... new lineups with
-DLeed
joining...
I heard McGinn is having a better year. He's a big body power forward with some offense. Wont be a big point guy though. IF he somehow becomes an NHL player, I expect more of a 20 point or so player.
Seems like the ideal 4th line guy now, that could possibly slide up to the 3rd line. Physical, goes to the dirty areas, fights, etc.
His skating is a big problem though. Hartnell isnt the best skater so maybe it works out. Im glad he's doing better last year. Leed loved him after last season, but I thought he looked terrible. He looked a lot better this season. Sits infront of the net pretty well.
Lilja is not as bad as some people say here. He isn't flashing at all but for a 6th/7th d-man you can't ask for much more.
I was just watching a bunch of clips on the Flyers site. Great to see them back! Funny though that in the interview with Fedotenko he is in front of his locker... where his name is spelled Fedetenko. Oops. Hope they got it right on his jersey!
I agree with this . If i remember correctly, wasn't Lilja also playing hurt last year ?
Hartnell-Giroux-Briere
Simmonds-Schenn-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Fedotenko
Zolniercyk/Wellwood/Sestito-Talbot-Rinaldo
Coburn-Timonen
Meszaros-Grossmann
Lilja-Gervais/Gustafsson/Manning
Bryzgalov
Leighton
For me, splitting up Giroux and Voracek spreads out the talent across the lines while providing the top two lines with playmakers. It also puts our best natural goal scorer (Briere) with Giroux and Hartnell, who should combine to get pucks out of the corners and make space for a sneaky player like Briere. Playing with Giroux will elevate Briere's game and will be better for the team.
Here's my problem with that lineup--it puts too much defensive responsibility on Giroux. He needs to basically play defense for two.
Coburn does get some PP time sparingly.

but with all the injuries do you guys think he'll see more this year, enough to warrant fantasy value
thanks
Not much if any. Unless hits count in your league. We play a high offensive system so he will get points simply because we score a lot but projected PP units have Timonen and Voracek on the Point for the first PP and Meszaros and probably another forward on the point for a 2nd PP. There is room but he likely will not be the go to guy, especially if rumors are true that we are getting Kurtis Foster.

Since when is Hartnell a bad defensive winger?
Two? Are you sure you arent confusing Hartnell with Simmonds?
Hartnell is fine. Briere isn't.
Therefore, Giroux has to play defense for two--himself and Briere.
Sorry, thought that was clear.
