Well according to Sam Car, Briere said theres a chance he might not play the first two games due to two different injuries.

Time to guess the starting day roster lineup.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Simmonds-Schenn-xxxx
Feds-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo/Sestito/Wellwood-Talbot-Wellwood/Sestito/Rinaldo

Maybe they just throw Wellwood on the 3rd or 2nd line. Either way I do think they should use Giroux-Schenn-Couturier. Maybe even my boy Noebels makes the squad ;)

My guess is the bump Read up to the second line until Briere gets back

I would like to try to move Briere to Girouxs wing. Briere is just too much of a liability at center. Maybe with him playing wing in Berlin now will be the perfect time. Three very balanced lines and a great checking line.

Hartnell-Giroux-Briere
Read-Schenn-Simmonds
Wellwood-Couturier-Voracek
Fedotenko-Talbot-Rinaldo

Grossmann-Coburn
Timonen-Schenn
Gus-Meszaros (when they are healthy)

Bryz

Those forward lines will let both schenn and Couts grow offensively while being defensively responsible.

What about picking up Kaberle?

If Montreal is willing to pay as much salary as they are allowed, we could get him for 2.1m for each of the next two years.

He could be that 2nd unit PP guy. Other than that though IDK.

I would say someone from the Phantoms would be a better option, but there isn't much there. I guess it depends if they want Talbot and/or Schenn to play the wing.

That said, I don't think they will move him because they are still left handed heavy in the top 4, but if they acquire a top 4 RHD, I wouldn't be shocked to see him move over.
Roster wise, I don't see how that happens. We have 7 D men now without Gus in the picture. Lilja is 35+ (does that still apply?), so his 750k counts no matter what. Gervais could go to the minors i guess...

Pretty much. If they can acquire a top 4 guy, they will make room somehow.

Supposedly there is a list of junior players that are allowed to be invited to camps. I wonder if they allow the 9 games before the junior player stays for the year or some lower number?

If Briere is out, opening night:

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Reed-Schenn-Simmonds
Talbot-Couturier-Fedotenko
Wellwood-Laughton/Cousins-Rinaldo

Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Grossmann
Meszaros-Gervais

Oh that's right. I dunno... I just feel it's... early for some reason (bringing him up). I would love to see him in action, but not sure if it's best for his development?

Not sure if Laughton will be ready but I guess if Briere's out, they should try it. Knowing Laviolette though he'll probably just play Rinaldo and Sestito for a bit. Maybe even Harry Z?

So Mez might not be able to start the season either. According to TimmyP Mez said himself he doesnt know if he would be ready. Dont know who takes over that spot with Gus hurt, MABs brain all messed up and Manning not having a good season. Maybe the dane gets a look but doubt it

Smells like a signing/desperation trade is on its way.

Gervais-Lilja 3rd pairing could happen, as scary as that is

@TheFourthPeriod: Flyers update: Jakub Voracek has left his KHL club in Prague, supposed to return to Philly today; Ruslan Fedotenko has left Donbass

Any word on Bryz, Read and Grossmann?

Did I miss anyone else playing overseas?

Also...
In talking with people in the organization who have watched Laughton play at Oshawa in the OHL this season, they are really impressed with his game and they think he could be NHL ready right now.

With that said, I think Laughton, the Flyers first round pick in last year's draft, has a shot to not only be at camp, but, much like Couturier last season, win a job on the team. People have asked me for a roster surprise, well, that's it in my opinion. Laughton makes the team.

Which would be more asinine than it was to jerk around Sbisa in 2008. Why would you waste an ELC year on a shortened season? We're going to need that cheap labor after Giroux, Schenn, and Couturier are re-signed. Dumb.

Krishna, I dont know what thread we were talking about Gus having a set back, but here is the link.

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Bill...sson-and-Blueline-Options-Quick-Hits/45/48281

Do not look for young defenseman Erik Gustafsson to immediate compete for a spot on the Flyers' starting blueline. The player, who has an injury variously described as either a high ankle issue and/or a foot bone bruise, suffered a setback late last week after returning to practice for two days.

According to a report in the Saratogian, Gustafsson is now back to walking on crutches. He was scheduled to be examined this week by Flyers team doctors.
