That's what frustrated me more about the overthinking and overpassing the first two periods, you aren't facing freaking Sorokin or Shesterkin, you're facing a guy with a 3.5 GAA and sub .900 save percentage with a team leaking goals, and we made them look like peak Tortorella Rangers blocking weak shots left and right.

I don't have many issues with what Fitz has done since becoming GM. Odds are he'll get fired if we miss, even though I don't think he should. He did just sign the extension though, so he's probably safe this year.

Mercer needs to be reprimanded for not taking that slot shot. That was the most memorable part of the game for me. That and the crowd later chanting shoot the puck in unison and the bronx cheer. That was wild.

Nico/Noesen and a few others failed the scrum goals, but blackwood gave no juicy rebounds in locations that helped us.

Good for Blackwood lol, he certainly decided to show up tonight when he would more rarely play like that here by the end.

Yeah Mercer in period one. Right between the circles. Either hit a corner or get a vintage juicy Mac Black rebound but, instead we get neither.

Please don't tell me he used the excuse of 2nd of a back to back....cause I have seen other teams against us in that same scenario come out much better.

Why are we worrying about things two years from now?

Palat needs to go this summer. No question about it. Not sure why you keep defending him when I attack the deadweight. I’m surprised I didn’t start the attack space junk Steve Austin sooner.

But it’s too early to say for Dougie. I’m not convinced Dougie is bad yet like many people. I’m supremely confident that Palat is and he’s underwhelmed his entire time here. Dougie has not.

But yeah, we probably will have to rid him of cap reasons by 2026, but I think he could still have a good year this season and possibly even next.

I can’t say I was listening closely enough to remember but I know Keefe didn’t when I heard his presser.

I do think Sal made the point in the postgame that the Devils had their best period in the third when the schedule was referenced.

Anyone have the screen shot of Palat totally blocking Bratt near Blackwood’s net in the 3rd? At this point I’m pretty sure @Hisch13r is a bigger fan of Palat than I am.

I’m not convinced Dougie is definitely bad now. I do think he’s had his best season here (22-23) and will progressively get worse, but I think he could finish with a good season. You might have to think about unloading him soon for cap purposes, but I think he could wind up being good this year. And I’ve also been very down on him this year. He hasn’t been good enough. I’m just not convinced that he’s really bad yet. Not yet.

I think when he was signed we probably figured he wouldn’t last the 7 years here. He’s been more of a positive here than a negative, but he’s also had significant injuries in 2 of the first 3 years which have kept him either off the ice for long periods or hampered his performance in the first year.

He’s more than likely not scoring 20 goals again, but I think he’ll finish with more than the 5 he’s on pace for. Unless he once again has trouble staying on the ice.

Getting shutout by Blackwood had to be highly predictable for some people. Certainly not me, but it’s not at all shocking.

I remember people calling for a Cory Schneider shutout when the Islanders gave him that one NHL game against us. The only one he played after leaving here.

We did lose to him and it took a while to score, but we got 3 goals on him that game.
