Lol, any traces of people who were shown, when their house started burning? Forget about them:laugh:
can't remember - was it clear they all lived in the lodge as opposed to in the neighborhood? certainly they ate there.

I feel like an idiot haha - just finally had time for the episode. I thought a case of mistaken identity had happened and a separate adult male/female child pair killed the father from the resort. I was waiting for them to show up in some fashion - then my wife pointed out that they didn't get far from the university and I was the idiot.

Minor question - who are the people hanging that Joel sees near the end? I knew they ate the girls father but nobody else had died recently in the resort other than who Joel/Ellie killed. I feel like it was to reinforce the cannibalism but like Ellie already directly called them out for it.

I really enjoyed the episode and loved the tension at the end. I am left wondering where are all the rest of the group though - the steakhouse (which is their main structure it seems) is on fire and nobody else comes to check it out? Joel and Ellie just seemingly walk away without seeing another soul.

I would think we are to assume that one of the men hanging was the father, along with 2 others who died somewhat recently, and the person they were eating was whomever was least fresh, ie died the longest ago

After the sermon at the beginning of the episode, most of the people were shown exiting the building and walking down the street, so they probably lived in the surrounding houses. It seems plausible that most would be in their homes and not realize that their lodge was burning down, though I still expected a reaction shot of one or two of them.

I think they really rushed the whole "David is actually a bad guy" reveal. I understand the logic of "can't have the infected nearby because the fungus and whatnot", but a major reason David's monologue with Ellie hits so hard is we think he is actually a trustworthy guy right before it happens.

my ridiculous gripes so far on the series. that have nothing to do with the story itself lol.

how are they creating batteries for their flashlights? batteries only have a shelf life of 10 years. also gasoline only has a shelf life of 3-6 months before it begins degrading without a fuel stabilizer being added so everyone should be on horse back at that point as if you used syphoned gas it could work but it would severely destroy the engine components.

and yes i know its a fictional story based on a video game. its just when i see these things it gets my brain turning lol. like i said ridiculous gripes

Maybe they all have those flashlights that you can shake to recharge them?

The gas thing seems to be rampant in the post apocalyptic shows and movies, same thing in the Walking dead, in a similar vein the fact that they will have so many cars that show no weathering or rusting like they have been on a showroom floor getting cleaned weekly instead of them all being half rusted out and crusty

The biggest one for me is them showing cans of food that would clearly be bad by now. Only honey can basically last forever.

I imagine FEDRA produces stuff in some of the cities.

Remember they make drugs in Atlanta.

And black markets moving such things is not impossible especially if you have smugglers moving things between QZ's, etc

So, in the game, only 10 years passed instead of 20. So that's part of it.

They mentioned the degradation of batteries when it comes to car batteries (and you see that Bill has separated cells stored in his garage refrigerator). The smaller batteries for flashlights? Presumably someone's making them in a QZ.

With regards to the gasoline, Joel mentions the degradation of it to Ellie in their scene about siphoning gas. She asks why they have to refill every hour.

The biggest one for me is them showing cans of food that would clearly be bad by now. Only honey can basically last forever.
A lot of food is still plenty edible well past it's expiration date, just it degrades in quality and flavor. Acidic foods like Chef Boyaredee - yeah, it's not good to eat at this point (and certainly will taste a hell of a lot like the can it was stored in). A fully sealed can of a non-acidic food stored in a proper place could definitely be safe to eat after 20 years.

They showed tomato soup no? Maybe I saw it wrong. I also find it hard to believe there would still be cans of uneaten food around after 20 years in a small area with presumably no giant shopping centers nearby. Anyway, it's a minor gripe and normally something I let go in post-apocalyptic shows as long as the rules for it stay consistent.

It was Chef Boyardee (IIRC), which is why I called it out. I agree that some with that much tomato in it would be too acidic to last.

I'm presuming the other can stores were from stockpiles developed by groups like FEDRA, the Fireflies, or preppers like Bill.

I would think that batteries would be some of the most valuable items around and not common, even if FEDRA were producing them, and if they were, they probably wouldn't be sharing them with high schoolers for their Walkmans or with non-FEDRA. After all, FEDRA is accused of starving people, IIRC. It's hard to see them being generous with batteries but stingy with food. I think that it's just one of many things that have no good explanation and we just have to go along with.

the edit definetly made him off as sinister from the get go. But as someone who didn't get this far in the game, love the cannibal preacher villain

the entire show short of episode 1, 2, 3 and 7 feels rushed, and I agree 100% what your saying here.
the lack of infected is a big disappointment

The game also is 20 years not 10.

I love the show but I do think they could have(should have) an extra episode at the very least. The entire David plot should have gotten 2 full episodes to play out. Like the episode was amazing but if they gave themselves the time to really flesh it out over two episodes it had so much more potential because some of it did feel rushed. 12 episodes would have been the sweet spot for the first game honestly.

same with Sam and Henry, this show needed like 12 episodes to do it properly imo and its funny because I wrote this after only reading the first sentence. good to see you agree with the 12episode thing lol

I love the show too but but its been abit of a let down. my expectation were through the roof. doesnt need much to be a 10 though. little suspense here and there would be nice and a few more episodes.

looking forward to sunday's episode.

That's not true, it's 20 years in the game as well.
