Yeah I don't think it's that easy.

Who's taking an undersized crash test dummy that can't make a pass or decent play with the puck to save his life at that cap hit?

He hasn't been an NHL caliber defenseman for a few years now

Dude played top D-line shifts for years too. You can argue in any direction.

All about the art of the deal. The real art of ripping someone off.

Win is better than a loss.
Great to see a lot of the heavy lifting being done by the younger brigade.
Defensive side of things still sucks and we certainly didn't look great.
I can't imagine a result like this would have any bearing in Drury's desire to change things up.

Something has to give at wing though. We have Laf, Kk, Cuylle, Berard and Edstrom all showing that they deserve top-9 mins, plus at least Perrault and probably Othmann in the wings. And Panarin and CK of course...

Even though we lost 5/6 games and seem to kinda suck we still have 27 points and have a better record than 17 other teams. Last year we had the best regular season record of any team. On paper our team is just as good as last year so I think a lot of their issues this year are just in their heads. I mean, we do kinda suck but we could bounce back. Today's win should help their confidence. Plus Trouba showed he's a man not a mouse. Its a good win. Sloppy but you gotta take them any way you can get them.

Who gives a shit what they think, but it’s also not an accomplishment either although I think Gustafsson is legitimately a good defenseman.

He's the prototypical guy that can step up as a top d-man but on a contending team is a very very solid 3rd pairing guy.

Versatile and very capable of QB'ing PP1.

Big loss letting him walk. I was high on Jones but he's been awful this year. Small defenseman either have to have the astronomical IQ of a Fox or they have to be extremely fast with a big shot. Jones has none of those attributes.

Except he wasn’t at all? He inked a way shittier guy at the same position for twice the money

Since when do teams not re-sign their RFAs?

Gus was UFA. Lindgren was RFA. Totally different circumstances.

And I don't think any of us including Drury expected Lindgren's game to completely fall off a cliff this year. I don't care about his injury because it's his own fault. Maybe don't fight a dude in the preseason you have no business of fighting and if you, tie up and don't get absolutely worked.

Y’all have a very fun rosy memory of Gustafsson. I thought he sucked outside of that brief period in October (November?).

Have you seen how our back end moves the puck compared to last year?

I'm not saying he's the de facto answer as to why we're so bad right now but his absence is 1,000% contributory to it

When you are watching the beginning of another 7 years of Zibanejad and Kreider because Kakkp scored a meaningless PPG against Montreal
