Thanks for making us a legit team. Many doubted DL when you were traded for. I will admit I was skeptical, but you proved us all wrong.

Thanks for the hard work, dedication, and most importantly, the Game 7 goals

then in the SCF

and then stuff like this

and of course

You are going to be missed J-Dub

Really the first deal Lombardi made for the present. Stoll/Greene were younger than Visnovsky. Youth for Williams, then came Scuderi and Smyth a few months later, and the Kings became a playoff team.

I'm enough of a sucker that I'd bring him back for another year if possible, but miss the playoffs, and things will change. Between him and Mitchell, not sure which one I'll miss in a Kings jersey more. They're both a hockey player's hockey player. They show up, give you what they got, and you can't ask for more.

I was very skeptical as well due to his injury history. He broke his leg right on cue the first season after the trade and has been remarkably durable since then. Only missed 1 game in the last 4 seasons. His regular season production has been on par with the rest of his career until the last 2 seasons. At this point he will probably be looking for too much money and for more years than I'd be comfortable with.

We just have to start winning series in 6 or fewer games from now on :)

I remember when we traded O'Sullivan for him and I wasn't familiar with this new guy other than he was fast and he was injury prone. Once he finally became healthy, he became a guy that you knew what you were going to get from him. And he will always have a special place in our hearts for his performance last year in the playoffs. It sucks that its going to end this way, but its a business. Good luck Justin in the future. :handclap:

I had a terrible feeling in my gut when they traded O'Sullivan for him...boy was I wrong. I really hope Williams decides he wants to stay and signs a sweetheart deal.

I really hope if he's leaving that he signs with someone in the East. Maybe Ottawa or somewhere.

Nowadays guys get labeled as "clutch" for scoring an OT goal here and there in the playoffs. JW has doing it for over a decade. At this point he's replaceable skill wise, but we won't fill his spot with someone who hates losing as much as him. He's up there with Quick in that department.

He was pretty quiet this year, but he threw a massive check on Shattenkirk at the start of the third in that game that Kopitar picked up 1/3rd of his season total points in. I'll miss those plays that sparked the guys.

This one stings, I think Stoll's contributions were a bit overrated, but Williams certainly were not, this is going to be a tough tough guy to replace. And I think he ha sa little bit left in the tank, but the Kings just can't get into a bidding war with all our bad contracts.

I really wish he had been an UFA last summer, maybe his re-signing would have taken up the money DL used to keep Richards and Greene.

Goodluck JW!

I bet someone will give him a multi-year deal at $5M per, which the Kings wouldn't be able to afford. Similar to what happened with Willie Mitchell last summer, given his age, it's just not worth it.

But he was one of Dean Lombardi's best trade acquisitions, and all it cost was a Patrick O'Sullivan and a 2nd.

I'll quote myself from last December, mostly as an example of why you shouldn't post on here when you're ludricrously intoxicated:

Okay, so you're Dean Lombardi, it's December 2014. Like, five years ago, you made one of the greatest trades in the history of the NHL to acquire Justin Williams from the Canes. (for Patty O' Sullivan?... amazing. That happened?)

You're going to want to retain this guy. For a second, just imagine if this guy continues to ADD to his playoff resume. His teams just win the SC, like 40% of the time in a 30 team league, if there's any justice. That's how much JW hates losing. DL is going to keep his guy.

GMs are going to look at the W. Mitchell effect in Fla., and hope to get a bit of that "magic" (ie stick tie-up ability), and overvalue Stoll. I think Stoll will be dealt off, we'll call up our Manchester (or wherever they wind up in the western AHL) and he'll do excellently alongside our 35 year old 4+ cup ring 3rd line right winger Justin Williams.

I firmly believe the Kings will win the cup in June. And I think Williams will basically pull a Glenn Anderson 2.0 and get dealt to the leafs when he's in his mid-late 30's and win a cup with them.

5 Cups. HHoF 2024. Too many wins to ignore* I'm predicting cup wins with 3 franchises^. The IT factor. *also the roundedness of these numbers in game 7s: 7gp, 7g-7a-14pts 7-0.

Not only a Kings cup prediction, but also one for the Leafs in the next few years. :shakehead

So, the Kings have to join the Eastern Conference I guess.

One of my Favorite Kings players of all time.

I am going to miss J-Dub, what a warrior.

My fondest memory will be when he gutted out a playoff series with the Sharks; separated shoulder and all.

J-Dub even scored a bit in that series.

Mitchell, Stoll, and Williams departures in the space of 12 months is going to leave a gaping leadership hole. It wasn't Brown who spoke up in the locker room during crunch time, it was Williams. Stoll helped bring the team together. We'll see how the Kings respond next year.

Going to miss him the playoffs. A lot. We are very lucky to have had both him and Doughty during our playoff runs.
