JT said Knies has "been in good spirits last couple days" and hoped it was a "quick turnaournd", so I don't think it's a serious concussion, more precaution.

We have to call someone up now, no?

Who's next up? What opportunities this give kids to show us what they can do when called upon. Do we know who they called up?

Line up for Sunday?

Robertson Tavares Marner
W. Nylander Holmberg A. Nylander
McMann Minten Grebenkin
Lorentz Dewar Steeves
Shaw? Hirvonen? Quillan?

I believe Reaves still eats up a roster spot while suspended so we're maxed out at 23 players right now.

Ahhh, yep.

12 forwards I listed as the line up then. Opportunities for Grebenkin, Minten and Nylander to see if they can crack the top nine. Steeves looking at the bottom six.

This definitely creates competition for Robertson, Holmberg, Dewar, Kampf, and Reaves. That's a good thing for the team I would imagine. Nylander has to clear waivers if we want to send him back down. That adds a wrinkle too.

Maybe a trade? Holmberg or Robertson for say Frost or Acciari? Bjugstad? Gourde?

I think they signed Nylander just for this. He'll come up maybe. If he gets waivers and claimed, then good for him

What's up with Knies? I assume he has a concussion. When is he back? I'm guessing the NHL brain trust didn't overrule the idiots who decided it was a "legal" hit. They would never throw their people under the bus even if they made an error in judgement.

While it sucks with so many injuries, some silver linings:
1. Leafs playing well as a team and a good system forming
2. Better opportunity to assess talent/depth
3. Cap accumulation for trade deadline ? This one I’m not sure, but wondering about. Is this true ?

Definitely not accruing cap space, we're dipping well into LTIR.

I see, so it’s doing the opposite?

This would explain it a lot better than I could. The bolded is not something we're doing right now since we're using LTIR (above the cap)

A team’s cap hit is calculated based on each day of the season (24-25 is 192 days). For every day a player is on the roster, the team’s cap hit is their full year cap hit divided by 192. Once a player is on the roster, the calculations assume they will be on the roster for the remainder of year. Example: If a player with a $925K cap hit gets called up 92 days into the season (100 days remaining), on that day the team’s projected cap hit for the year goes up $481,771 ($925K/192)*100.

Cap space “accrues” over time. A team with $500K cap room to start the year can add a player with a $1,000,000 Cap Hit halfway through season (Day 96). Due to the way the cap is calculated, a player worth $1M annually will only count for $500,000 in actual cap charge through the remainder of the year.

Berube seeemd quite encouraged that Knies was back on ice "feeling good so good news on that department".

Matthews
Knies
Domi
Jarnkrok
Pacioretty
Kampf
Reaves

Leafs have a separate NHL team waiting in the wings up front.

You really care about Kampf, Reaves, Jarnkrok, to be back? I hope we never see them in a Leafs uniform again. And if Domi doesn't pick it up, he'll be in that group for me too.

They have a top 6 and a bottom 6 line there.

I take it that Matthews and Knies are probably back for the weekend?
Minten & Grebenkin go down then?

It’s not that I care about them, but they will be healthy and eligible to play again and will count against the cap once activated. So how do you dispose of them, reintegrate them. Etc.
