Congratulations Paciorrety for winning the race to IR before Robertson.

I guess I'm not really surprised. Everyone Treliving signed this summer was over the hill and injury prone. That's on top of the injury prone players who were already here.

When you keep adding band-aid boys to the roster you end up with a band-aid boy team.

There was never any doubt the Leafs were would be making use of LTIR. Fans were creating threads about it. So we shouldn't be surprised when players are dropping like flies.

The result of a GM desperate to save on cap costs any way he can.

So he signs washed up vets like Paciorrety, Tanev, and OEL to retirement deals. Throws a bunch of money at the broken and battered body of Joseph Woll. Convinces Robertson there's a spot for him on the team.

All these injured players are the result of a GM who isn't effective at managing risk.
Are you having a bad day? Not everything is so gloomy, it’s just a game of hockey.

Sounds like Minten will be around for awhile to me. Kampf on LTIR means he's gone for a good month or so.

I don't mind the situation at all.

Great opportunity for the next wave to gain experience and give the club a sense of competition for spots and the kind enthusiasm that only a shot of youth injects into a club.

With the way the club is playing, these accidents feel...almost optimistic?

It's not a bad situtation but could turn into an issue if they struggle. Losing that many players can be rough. Not like Kampf or Domi were amazing or anything though.

Only a matter of time and another injury to a centre and we’ll be talking about emergency call up for Cowan.

Call up rules:

1. On Recall for no more than 5 gms in a given season, so long as it's not inconvenient to his club.(inconvenient shall mean player missing more than 1 of his Junior games)

2. On Emergency Recall. (with respect to defensemen, emergency recall of a Junior player can be requested when the NHL club is in its second emergency condition & has already executed one previous recall of a
defenseman from its minor league affiliate under emergency condition)

3. At the end of the players Junior Clubs season.

4. If the player has been assigned to participate in the WJC tournament, team may then recall such
a player immediately following the conclusion of the tournament or his team's participation.

Haha I don’t think Cowan will be emergency recalled. We still have Abruzzese next in line, Pare, Jacob Quilian, I think they got enough bodies

What exactly is Berube doing to these guys in practice?
I'm half-serious.

None of Matthews, Domi or Kampf seem to have sustained their injuries in a game (unless I missed something), so where else? The gym? Playing XBox? Getting run over by a mob of tweens trying to get into a Taylor Swift concert?

We'll see what is said, I'm sure they'll down play it... but it sounds to me like something he'll miss time for.

Yup agreed. Had a random mid day thought of how great both signings have been so far.

I made a thread called Brad Treliving is doing a great job." It's safe to assume I do not feel the same way as I did then.

I feel even better today then I did then.

This team is missing 5, possibly 6 forwards depending on what happens with Knies and they are in 1st place in the Atlantic.

Now I expect Florida to stomp Chicago into the dirt tonight and if they do Florida will get 1st place back.

But at the time of this reply the Leafs are currently 1st place and that has A LOT to do with the defense and goaltending Brad has built.

I'm wondering if we see a trade soon.

This is starting to remind me of when Dubas acquired Timmins because their #9 D man was playing regular minutes.

We are getting to that point with the forwards.

Leafs are depleted, which means the Marlies are depleted due to call ups which means whoever the ECHL team is is depleted.

I know the ECHL team was the Growlers but I thought they folded.

Treliving might have to bring in a body just to fill a spot.

Why is it when players on the Leafs are having a bad season they are put on IR? Are they having a bad season because they are injured or are they on IR because they are having a bad season?
