Has anyone actually seen him?

New York where they bury the evidence.

Probably won't be healthy until the playoffs. VGK do Stone, Leafs due Jarnkrok? Priorities seem wrong.

He's been spotted on the ice a few times before practices. So he was skating. But it does seem like he regressed quite a bit.

I think they are going to play with roster configurations, IR, conditioning stints and maybe having Myers, Benning and eve Reaves on waivers if need be. I don't think there is a risk of losing Reaves, but they might not want to do that to him.

I think their goal is to keep the "roster" at 26 or 27 all year this way. I also think Jarnkrok could be out for a while and we may slow play brining him back to give us additional flexibility.

This might be a strategy to not waist draft capital on depth d-men and forwards (goalies too) at the TDL.

This certainly does seem to be the strategy that they are attempting to take here. Although I don't think you'll see Reaves or Myers on waivers anytime soon given that Myers will likely get claimed and they wont wnat to do that to Reaves.

The one challenge I see with this approach... you're kind of killing the reputation from an AHL standpoint as "this is a great place to come and get an opportunity".

Take a guy like Alex Nylander, who turned down NHL offers to sign an AHL contract here. I'm sure the "plan" for him was that once a guy like Steeves was getting called up, they'd sign him to an NHL contract and get him in the lineup.

From a developmental standpoint, it's also probably not ideal. Alex Steeves has 9 goals in 10 games, while this is year 4 in the AHL, he is still only 24, and may have NHL upside.

Cade Webber chose to sign here, presumably thinking that he'd come in as maybe 9th on the depth chart. Right now, he's probably 11th with Rielly, Tanev, McCabe, OEL, Benoit, Timmins, Hakanpaa, Myers, Benning and Rifai all above him. Similar story for Jacob Quillian, who probably figured that at the very least, Minten & Steeves will get NHL time, where in turn he'll get really high quality AHL minutes.

Nikita Grebenkin has 9 points in 10 games, and has the ability to go back to Russia if he wants. Maintaining this practical 26-27 man roster at the NHL level substantially decreases his chance of not only NHL opportunity, but NHL pay.

Fraser Minten I think you'd want to be able to see what you might actually have with him, rather than him being stuck down there.

Those are a lot of fair points. The issue is that if we are trying to seize the opportunity of a window now, Weber and Grebenkin don't really move the dial.

I think we want to be a team that you have to earn your way on to. If Grebenkin is breaking down the door then maybe he gets called up and that is when we move our Kampf, Jarnkrok or Holmberg...possibly Robertson. Same with Weber.

I don't know what kind of ice time our kids are getting on the Marlies, but we would rather them play 15 to 20 minutes every night down there than 8 minutes every second or third game in the NHL.

I was a big proponent of having Robertson, Holmberg, Grebenkin, and Minten playing a combined 200+ games this year. We need to see what they can bring before we TDL or off-season shopping. This can still happen.

I think Minten plays into the plan a bit here once he gets healthy. It's a nice position to be on as an organization...not so much of you are someone like Alex Steeves or Abrusezze.

Alex Nylander is on an AHL deal. I believe to call him up we have to sign him to an NHL deal and he has to clear re-entry waivers (I think). If so, he may have signed knowing that the was in A all year.

Sounds like Jarnkrok is going nowhere fast in recovering, that’s too bad.

I'm no doctor, but I think it's Matthews' wrist again. His shot, while still having some power, has been wildly inaccurate. Lot of misses says he's having trouble controlling his accuracy.
Agreed.

Given the strange nature of the timetable for return, it does sound like a wrist sprain.

Kypreos said it wasn't his wrist or his shoulder last week.

Sports Hernia

The Maple Leafs haven't said much about the injury, aside from it being lower body. According to The Toronto Star's Kevin McGran, Jarnkrok is dealing with a sports hernia.

Report: Calle Jarnkrok Skates For First Time Since Suffering Injury In Maple Leafs Training Camp

The veteran forward is eligible to return at any point as he's been out for the required 10 games and 24 days while on LTIR. Toronto still has 23 players on their active roster, and once Jarnkrok is deemed healthy, they will need to remove a player to create from for the forward.
Can't stand him.

And he was never any good to begin with.

Be back for playoffs like Stone once they can find another part to break before the deadline.

A big difference in quality between Stone and Jarnkrok. Also Stone played parts of the season whereas Jarnkrok played 1 pre-season game. Not impossible but if they are healthy and rolling, I don't see him getting into the lineup at any point this season. A long ways away though so we'll see.

Well he’s done for the foreseeable future, so now we don’t have any reinforcements coming for the third line.

Depth is gonna look really shaky this season till TDL. Hopefully we can address it at a good cost

nah man, we need offence. We have other guys who provide defence and nothing else. Too many of those, in fact. He is useless.
I actually wanted him back for the regular season, he is a black hole in the playoffs but a solid 30+ point player in the regular season

I’d take that over Mr.1goal and holmberg.

True, but can Holmberg match Jarnkrok's awesome line from last year's playoffs? 7 GP 0 G 0 A 0 P? He probably can:sarcasm:
