I was wrong about Grabo, never saw him as good enough for a top six role because he lacked hockey sense but he really grow on me over the years especially his never give up attitude.

I called Clarkson stinking it up.

I called moving Grabo and MacArthur would put us a step back.

I called Randys crusty old man routine wearing thin with the players.

I called Reimier melting under the pressure of true #1 competition.

What was I thinking: I thought this team on paper was an upgrade over last seasons, it actually was much worse, Clarkson is a black hole, Bolland got injured, our posession went to garbage, Raymond dissappears in pressure situations. There's no chemistry with this group.

Having faith in Lupul to show up game after game

Correlation =/= causation. If he was that big a factor, his team would probably be in the playoffs right now. Same goes for MacArthur. Mason Raymond was effectively our Grabovski; and Grabovski was barely a factor last year in making the playoffs and on top of that Bozak of this year completely outmatched Grabovski of last year. Losing him was of no consequence towards the way the season went. I liked him but you guys gotta relax with this.

He has a part in the leafs collapse and he's this team's #1C, he definitely takes a large chunk of the responsibility for the failure of the team, as does Phaneuf, Carlyle etc. and every player/management playing in a primary role.

I didn't follow your example whatsoever but just because a player was on the team when we made the playoffs, and then left, and the team failed to make the playoffs, doesn't mean that that player was a big factor in making the playoffs. Especially when the guy had 16 points. I understand he wasn't utilized properly but he was hardly the reason we made the playoffs and he was hardly the reason we missed them this season. Our team played a flawed game last season and they managed to sustain it over 48 games. It's much tougher to sustain a flawed system over 82 games.

At the 48 game mark, we would have made the playoffs again this season. Last year we made the playoffs improbably because of the low amount of games. Our possession stats would have likely caught up to us like they did this year had we played a full season.

Our 1st line was a ticking time bomb the whole season. Their inability was play defense was a big factor why we collapsed. Bozak back checking with his stick across his leg like he's out of breathe, Kessel never back checking because he's lazy and JVR not back checking because he's always crashing the net (only excusable one) was a big reason why we lost. If they could prevent some goals maybe we would of squeezed in.

I certainly dont expect them to keep their shooting % up and scoring goals for us every game (like in the 1st half) but maybe preventing a few would of been beneficial too.

Teams that play around in their own zone they they’re defending but they’re generally getting scored on or taking face-offs and they need a goalie to stand on his head if that’s the way they play,” said Sutter.

Name me one season where our 1st line isn't chasing the puck in our own zone?

And yes our team played a flawed game last season and this season no disagreement there. Carlyle is the one to be blamed. Its a shame that fat pig Nonis is blind and oblivious to this fact.

You people seriously do not understand causation and correlation.

Just because a player was on the team and it collapsed doesn't mean that he was the reason for the collapse. I really would like to hear what you wanted Bozak to do differently, not score almost a point per game? Grabo didn't play very much last season, how in the world was he the reason we made the playoffs? FFS. I understand he wasn't utilized properly, and he would have been a damn good asset to have this season but definitely not the way he was being played under Carlyle. Losing our third (fourth) line centre wasn't the reason why we missed the playoffs.

The logic that follows here:

Grabovski had 16 points in 48 games, was a -10 and played much less, he was on the team when we made the playoffs and therefore the reason for the Leafs making the playoffs. Bozak had 49 points in 58 games, was a +3 while playing a much bigger role, he was on the team when we missed the playoffs and therefore was the reason we missed the playoffs.
