This kid shutdown McDavid in the playoffs. What the f*** is he talking about?

I like Kirby, but he sounds like a bitch.

Frank Nazar is a winner. Ask him to shutdown the other team's best line, and he'll do it with a smile. KD made the right decision.

Kirby doesn't have the mentality to play for this Blackhawks team. He doesn't have that dog in him.

Watched some of it because I didn't know what year he was all talking about. He mentioned his rookie year Bowman told him he could go to the WJC, then he's told upper management said no. So obviously McDonough said no.

Dach even talked about being rushed to justify his pick position and thinking he could of been better off staying at juniors.

https://hockeyviz.com/player/dachxki01/CHI/2122 he was playing with Kane and Cat but then yeah, he must mean when he played with Kurashev a lot after King took over. That team did improve defensively but he also criticized JC

Dach may have been ruined just by being made to play in the NHL too early. Transfer rules wouldn’t let him play in the AHL so it was either WHL or NHL

That and apparently he is made of glass with injuries. Poor guy. Wish him nothing but the best

Derek King tried to make Dach a defensive center??

also in this interview he said that he asked STan to go to the WJC his rookie year to get some confidence back since he was only playing 10min a night on the 4th line, Stan gave him the green light and then an hour later said that 'upper management' said he couldn't go...so McD?

edit: clyde already mentioned this...clearly they had too many cooks in the kitchen under past regime

Bad move to try to make him a shutdown guy, but I'm not gonna pretend like he wasn't capable of being that player. He was a physical beast when he was healthy. Injuries really derailed his career and the hawks didnt do him any favors f***ing up his development like that.

Derek King tried to make Dach a defensive center??

lol it broke his heart that he was put on the third line.

What a whiny little kid. Kinda glad he's gone if that's his approach. "I'm not a shutdown Center, chasing MacKinnon is hard." Good luck to you, dude.

What a f***ing braindead take.

Yep, always liked him too. Thought we gave up on him way too early, and that's being proven now.
Happy for Forsling that he worked out, he was always a good character kid. Keep in mind the season after his Hawks tenure ended, he cleared waivers and spent an entire season in the AHL. So the whole NHL didn't believe in him there. Found his game in his fourth organization.

Dach wasn't playing behind prime Crosby and Malkin while he was in Chicago. The Hawks needed Dach to be way more than a 3C.
True but he didn't deserve much more, thank's to inconsistent play and maybe injuries.

He looked good on playoffs but other than that...

1) Dach should have went back to the WHL. He never dominated that league and he was rushed.
2) His NHL play was very inconsistent. Against Edmonton I thought he was really f***ing good. In other games he was not engaged and less effective.
3) I was fine with trading him.. that doesn't mean that I don't think Stan, Colliton, McClown and whoever made it more difficult on Kirby to be successful.

Seemed like they didn't know the player well enough, he said they didn't even interview him at the combine and the best feeling he had was going 4 to Colorado or 5 to LA...But if putting Kirby on the 4th line versus going back to the WHL was going to ruin his confidence and you don't even know it thats just not knowing your player well enough

Who has also been a bust, essentially. He's always hurt. And from what I've seen of him, even when he's healthy, he's just not that good.
You don’t know that the injuries still happen if we take him though. He looked like a future #1 on their cup run. He was absolutely phenomenal. We’ll see if that players still in there or if he’s been lost to injury

I believe I posted on here when we drafted him that he would have to play a heavy game to be a difference maker. I just didn't see a dynamic playmaker in him, and he needed to get bigger and stronger. I wanted Turcotte, because I thought he'd be at least a really good 2nd line center, but injuries have really derailed him.

In the 2019 draft our realistic options were: Byram, Dach, Cozens, Turcotte, and maybe Podkolzin IIRC. It's looking like a disappointing draft class in general so i'm not sure what difference it woud've made, but I always wanted Byram.

Not quite sure what happened with Dach. Lots of potential that I'm completely sure was at least partially ruined by stupid developmental decisions from our GM, coaching staff(s), and McDouche. He had trouble keeping his head up and didn't have a killer-instict on offense though so unfortunately it looks like a smart move to trade him even if Nazar doesn't pan out.

Much of that top 10 has been pretty disappointing, honestly.

must be a chicago thing to not interview the player you're going to take top 3...Kirby said he got a text an hour before the draft from a random number asking 'are you ready to be a hawk' and he had no idea if it was real or not because he had zero communication with the org prior to draft night lol...

They may have been trying to move up or down and not had anyone in mind at #3.
Then things fall apart and you gotta pretend you like the guy.
