The Great Anthony Beauvillier Appreciation Thread (And former Hawks talk vol 8)

Can't believe Saad is walking away from that much money just because he doesn't wan to play in the AHL. He's made his money already I suppose so if he loses $3+m over the next two years by signing a $1m AAV deal or something like that then more power to him. He probably wants 1,000 games played in the big leagues

Nothing surprising but only Hawks from the 2014-15 Stanley Cup roster still playing in NHL are:

Patrick Kane (36 years old): 1 year/$4 million Detroit
Brandon Saad (32 years old): contract terminated, will likely still sign somewhere
Teuvo Teravainen (30 years old): 3 years/$16.2 million Chicago
Trevor Van Riemsdyk (33 years old): 3 year/$9 million Washington

I rarely watch Caps games these days so didn't realize TVR is still in the league, good on him.

Saad aged really, really poorly. I didn't think he'd be this bad this early in his 30s. Mid 30s, sure, but not for a guy turned 32 just 3 months ago.

I would add that I believe Hartman and Danault were Black Aces that year and they are still in NHL

Memory may be wrong on that though

Still, both saw some games with Hawks that year so while not on SCF roster they are still hanging around

Yeah, Danault played 2 regular season games and Hartman played 5 regular season games that season, and each played no playoff games. Each was otherwise in Rockford that year.

Hawks did a pretty good job drafting Forwards, the lack of drafted Defensemen and overall mismanagement lead to the decade of darkness. Some was inevitable when you're going to pay the price a bit for being so all in (and worth it), some a bit bad luck with Toews premature decline and then a lot just really poor decision-making, with a 2nd and 4th for Timmonen (blood clots and hadn't played yet that season, I know they won the Cup, but Timmonen was completely useless) the first domino.

TVR was an expansion draft loss. I remember it being the inevitable choice at the time, but don't remember in hindsight what better options there might have been. Very nice career for a former UDFA RHD.

Can't see him sticking around in NA much longer

Eventually you're just a bust rather than a "Former 8th overall with potential" and he will turn 25 in offseason and 2018 draft was long ago at this point

he could go for the hat trick and trade for jones.

Jones at $7 million for 2026 1st rounder.

Seth Jones
Nolan Allan
Dominic James

for

Adam Boqvist
Cole Sillinger
Aleksi Heimosalmi
David Jiricek

*snorts line* Easy Hawks Trade Win

When you put it like that it really doesn't seem too bad but it was just such a delusional idea that Jones and Fleury were going to make that team competitive.
