i have to believe it was a commandment from on high in ownership. i can't see any way they don't bring him back last free agency otherwise.
A small and conspiratorial part of me wonders if it was from Bedard’s camp. "Bedard is the face of this franchise now and from a PR point of view we don't want the old regime here anymore".

Kane at 36 is still a much better player than Tuevo when healthy. He could've signed a one year deal and been the top line RW next to 98.

The Kane shit happened before Bedard.

They traded him for the tank. After we got Bedard and Levshunov there’s not a huge difference in bringing back Kane or Teravainen.

I think I’m misunderstanding you.

The statements about "moving on" and all that bullshit from Hawks brass. That was before they even drafted Bedard. The "not bringing him back" was present before that.

i really doubt he has that kind of pull, and i don't know that it makes any sense from his perspective. is being the only recognizable face on the team worth trading all the points he's missing out on for not having a winger that can play on his level? just doesn't add up for me. i also can't imagine davidson wouldn't offer kane at least what tt and bert are making. most likely ownership just doesn't want anything to do with anyone connected to the ancien regieme.

People need to get their timelines straight. Kane was traded in Feb. 2023. Bedard was drafted on June 29th. There were rumors that the Blackhawks had no desire to sign Kane and bring him back well before Kane was traded. It had absolutely nothing to do with Bedard.

I know why they initially let Kane go. I’m strictly talking about this past offseason. If you’re bringing in Teuvo why the hell not bring Kane back instead??

That's the antithesis of everything Bedard has shown so far and the timeline doesnt line up.

Kane is out but they didn’t say why on the Montreal broadcast.

Detroit up 3-0 after a shorty just now.

Dach responds with a nice effort and goal, 3-1.
That puts Dach in double digits w 10 now, he is on a nice little roll. Some symetry tongiht with ex Hawks getting their 10th and 20th goals tonight.
