2 goals for Hagel in first period.

I don’t regret that trade and am happy with return, but man he’s elevated to a level I didn’t think he had. Hopefully it ends up a win-win trade for both sides.
I think Hagel's progress has surprised all of us, including those fans who wanted to keep him. Now he is on Team Canada. Good for him.

I loved Hagel but I don't think for a minute that he'd be having the same success here in Chicago.

Also let's say that we kept Hagel. Who knows how good he'd be here and then we definitely don't have Moore or Boisvert and we probably don't have Bedard. So the first question is would you rather have Hagel and William Smith or Bedard, Moore, and Boisvert?

And given his game is pure hustle, I have to wonder how long it's going to last. He's no doubt a really good player but would the timing have worked with his prime compared to the rest of the team when they're ready to compete?

So he'd be really nice right now in a Hawk uniform but I still don't hate the trade.

Moore and Boisvert are prospects, Hagel is a proven NHLer having himself a pretty good career. That's an easy choice.

The only argument against trading Hagel was we may have never gotten Bedard. Other than that I couldn't care less about some prospects

That should be the argument though tbh. It's always Bedard (or whoever top 5 picks in 2-3 drafts) + whatever prospects that we got for Hagel etc.

We truly had to bottom out to make a base for the next 15 years, the other picks and all are just welcome supplements, well necessary supplements for the depth needed to build a contender.

You could also make argument keeping Hagel likely doesn’t make us much better of a team in the standings and it would’ve been nice to have a player like him already on the roster so Bedard doesn’t have to play with guys like Hall/Bertuzzi/Foligno.

I’m not one for main board’s opinions but this is a sorry excuse for a roster and Bedard will be losing a lot the first three years of his career at minimum because we’ve got no talent for him to play with.

Hopefully next year is the season of Rockford kids getting callups

Yeah that's a legit argument.

I think the FO wanted to completely clean house and bring in a new locker room, new faces, new voices, new players, other value, and pieces that will be Hagels in 4-5 years to the established core.

I liked Hagel and was sad to see him go, but I think it was the correct decision personally.

If the lottery balls remain the same (and thus whoever is 3rd to last wins) whether or not Hagel is on the Hawks then he would have cost them Bedard for sure. Even one more point puts them ahead of the Sharks that year.

I guess Juric and Panik might be waiting by their phones too, figuring they still might have a chance (even without waivers being a factor).

Again people have to remember Buffalo gave up on him first…Bowman signed him as a free agent

Muck like Forsling(who Bowman acquired from VAN for Adam Clendening) CAR airbed him to Florida, Hawks traded him for deHaan

Kirby Dach with two goals today. Looked pretty good too even though he got lucky on the first one.
