Just stumbled upon this GQ interview Toews has done.

He goes into some detail of his India yoga and diet sessions. Says he was struggling with inflammation and digestive issues that seemed more unnormal than others at 21 even.
I’m worried about him. That pseudoscience nonsense can be dangerous. And inducing vomitting regularly can destroy your esophagus.

Yep. Honestly, I'm not sure if he doesn't have some kind of hypochondria or other mental illness that is making him believe he has some crazy health problem he needs to travel the world to discover the solution to.

What he is doing right now can kill him.

I read that entire article and it's just f***ing insane.

I honestly don't even know his real name, but he goes by Sadu. He is an Austrian fella and he, I guess, studied Ayurveda for years in an Indian monastery. He spent a lot of time as a monk, meditating and studying Ayurveda and Vedic scripture. That was another one of those things where I'm like, “Okay, man, I’ve done it all. I've tried it all. I’m so frustrated and exhausted and just fed up with this shit, so why not? Let's call Sadu.” He was hanging out on an organic farm in Puerto Rico.

What. The. f***.

My wife’s aunt is in circles like he is, and has done the whole India experience.

In general you can’t talk sense into these people.

I wish him well and can only hope he doesn’t do something that really f***s him up.

It sounds like he's probably been f***ing himself up for a long time with all of this voodoo nonsense.

A lot of antiinflammatory things. Everything from vitamin C to glutathione. There's probably a few I can’t talk about. I mean, they weren’t banned substances, but I know the NHL is cracking the whip. It wasn’t anything I wasn’t supposed to be doing, I was just trying to mainline it in there to get the highest doses possible. You got to find a way.

I was taking very high potency curcumin, things that were kind of alleviating the inflammation a little bit. But it was just such an onslaught every day and every game of coming home and just feeling like I just had cement legs and arms. Nothing was clearing out of my system, and it’s almost like my liver was just so overburdened with toxicity and kind of, what do they call it? Microtoxins, or the waste that your immune system creates in your body when it's releasing all these immune cells.
Just f***ing insanity.

Yeah I think you’re bang on with the hypochondria. It would make sense too. Doctors unable to diagnose anything?

I had a hard time in my life, not realizing it was depression. I was tired and sleeping all the damn time. Like you just have no energy whatsoever. I hope he wasn’t originally dealing with that, and then f***ing himself up with all this crap. It would be sad if it was something as simple as naturally low serotonin, because that’s easily medicated.

I can’t help but feel disappointed in how Toews and his game aged while watching Kopitar and Crosby who still producing north of a point per game at 37 years old. Toews is currently 36 for reference.

Meanwhile Toews last played a game at 34 and he was pretty brutal his last 2 or so years when actually playing. Basically his last productive season was his age 31 season.

The more I read, the more I believe he did this to himself by pumping his body full of all kinds of insane shit, trying to get an edge. His digestive issues could be tied directly to the supplements he was taking, FFS. Their side effects are pretty much all digestive!

I watched the Caps game on ABC this past weekend and Taylor Raddysh was skating with Strome & Ovi on the top line. That's quite the come-up and I doubt many here saw that coming when he was signed by them. I didn't mind him here as the power play bumper guy.

He was at the beginning of the year, I wonder if he was playing through something because he has been much better since returning from his injury.

Yeah it was very strange..he comes back last year and Is on pace for over 30 goals and nearly a PPG on a very meh team.

This season he looked lost and missed a bunch of time again looking like that would be it...but with a new experienced coach he looks great again..

4 goals and 8 points his last 5 games...approaching 500.
