GBU The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - Vibeless.

I'll be the contrarian here.... Once we account for how much we're paying them, and the quality of defense being played in front of them, I think Comrie and Anderson are EXCEEDING expectations.

You can't give up 8 odd man rushes and expect your goalie to stop them all. That might be the most clean breakaways I've ever seen allowed in 1 game.

The 2nd Eichel goal is the only one I can look at from last night and say Comrie probably should've saved it.

I'm going to hold so many people accountable if the Sabres still lose games when Samuelsson and Joki are back especially if they lose to the teams recently played.

So sick and tired of the missing defensemen excuse.
Missing 2 D, and having another 2 D seeming not playing at 100% is going to have an impact…

Power shouldn’t have any games where he is close to 25min, and yet he has the last 5 games in a row including a game over 28 min! How could that not make a difference?

Because this team is bad from forwards to defense. Its usually the forwards allowing the 2 on 1's with a terrible pass, the difference of 3 goal loss to Vegas is not 2 players being out.

Yes, only this is not a problem with Granato or team, this is a problem that Adams had to solve. Claim Reilly or trade for a player who is similar in style to Samuelsson. It could also be taken care of in the off-season to sign more than just small D for AHL depth. I'm already tired of talking about the top 4 RD for playing with Power.

no the D is absolutely getting caught up high the same happens to the opposing team forwards except their D rightfully don't play stupid and make dumb pinches where Clague is in no man's land behind the opposing team's net.

-Tage is a 1C. For sure.
-Dahlin and Power are 1Ds
-Still believe in the direction of this team. They’re average, and for a rebuilding team that is focused on development this season, that’s ok. We just aren’t on Vegas’ level and anyone who thought so is foolish. It’s tough to be patient though.
-I’m really looking forward to having Sammy and Joker back. Things will balance out a bit when that happens.

Been enough negativity in this thread I’m sure. Gonna skip on the B & U

I have to call out the coach for starting Comrie in the first place. Kinda obvious that Anderson has been outplaying him so why would you start your back up goalie in a high profile home game ?

Between that and the ridiculous line shuffling I'll be the first to say 'Fire the coach !'

it should be obvious - the reason Buffalo is only ever only good in October and spring is because other Teams teams are still warming up in October, and good teams aren’t trying as hard in spring when they have a playoff spot locked down.

Any success Buffalo has had this season and last is because we play backup goalies and teams that aren’t playing at 100%. This still is a long way off from being an actual competitive NHL team, even with a as good of a coach as Granato.

What a joke of an opinion. Goaltending and coaching are the only two things that are fine - you are placing the blame on the only two areas where it doesn’t belong.

If you look at the defensemen who are constantly on the ice when calamity strikes the last several games it's obvious what the problem is (spoiler: it's the "AHL 4 LIFE" guys).

Find it quite funny people rallying against Granato. If you can find a coach who constantly makes the right roster calls or plays the guys everyone wants, I’d love to see it. Happens with every coach in every sport.

I’m assuming it’s the same people who were ready to sell off Dahlin and wanted Tage buried in the minors. This team and rebuild would be beyond f***ed and have a much longer timeline if Granato hadn’t unlocked Tage and Dahlin, how quickly we forget. Because of Donnie we have a 1C and elite 1D. We are seeing the other side of the sword with Mitts where it may not be working.

But by all means, because of a 4 game losing streak against 3 of the best teams in the NHL with half an AHL D core, start sharpening the pitch forks because he sat a rookie for a game or two. Ridiculous. We were predicted to be one of the worst teams EVER last year, far exceeded expectations with a young roster with 2nd worst goaltending in the league.

Now people want and expect the playoffs? Good lord this fanbase. If you want to quit on the process, fine, see ya. This is the right group and they are fun to watch, up’s, downs and growing pains will be a part of it. If Kevyn sits on his hands for another off-season I’ll start to worry. Until then, I’m gonna enjoy watching these kids grow.

Both of Eichel's breakaways where when Dahlin was on the ice because of errant passes. Not saying that our AHL D don't suck, I hope I never have to see fking Clague or Fitzgerald ever again when our D is healthy, but it definitely doesn't help when your team is not executing.

I must be watching a different team. Attacking is the last word I’d use to describe their PP, which is when it should be most on display.
Virtually no one talks about attacking in waves on the PP. it’s about maintaining pressure with all 4 lines. In this case, the Sabres have similar skill sets on all 4 lines, a lot like the 05-06 team.

Goaltending has been very bad yet again. We need better defense in front of them. Giving up chances left and right.
It is a struggle to evaluate the goaltending. Deflections (half off our own people, breakaways, 2 on 1's, and uncovered players on the back door have accounted for the vast majority of the goals, as they will on most goaltenders. Would I like to see a few highlight real saves? Yeah, but still. Until the grade A chances are cut down to something reasonable, goaltending will be in continuous failure.

You see this on the good defensive teams, that their goaltenders have good numbers. Goaltending stats are partly a team stat. There have only been maybe 2-3 goals we have given up this season that you would expect the goalie to save.

I feel like maybe Donnie is trying to do too many things at once. Might be time to lock in some lines, and play a simple game for awhile.
