GBU The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - Vibeless.

Our playstyle wasn't sustainable, not sure who thought it was here though. The 2 on 1s is a coaching thing, its the style we play. Early on we were getting the stops by our goalies, now they're going in. Either way it was unsustainable.

G: It was closer than the score indicates.

Early on If Cozens shot off the post had been half an inch further to the right this is a completely different game.

Comrie was good on the 2 Eichel breakaways

B: Comrie was pretty bad outside of the 2 Eichel breakaways.

U: This losing streak is almost certain to continue against Boston

There’s still way too many placeholders starting for this team.

But look at the bright side. At least they have 700 forwards in the pipeline to fix their D situation.

And boy, am I glad they aren’t blocking Levi from playing goal here in 2025.

I don't know, but some of the reactions in here and in the GDT make me think this is a good sign in a way, because usually this happens far later in the season. Expectations have risen, both for the fans and the team.

The season is far from over. Unfortunately they lost very important pieces on the defensive side, and i remember saying to myself, well how can they compensate that? Tough sledding until they are back healthy i guess. I didn't have an answer back then, and still haven't (maybe besides getting proactive in waivers).
If they can get back into the groove again, like they did last year - but this time much earlier, hopefully well before Christmas - then everything is on the table.

That is all.

The Good:

Thompson on Thompson violence. Great pass from Okposo and they had traffic at the net on the PP repeatedly for GF1.
Thompson's second.
Mitts with the dangles and then the feed.

The Bad:

Bucci in the booth. The cringe is real. Turned the sound off for a time.
Not putting in a claim in Reilly and then icing Clague and Fitzgerald.
Comrie on the 2nd Eichel goal, gotta have that one.
Clague on for 4 against, Bryson on for 3 against.
Posts - Cozens early, Bryson late, someone else had one in the middle frame. Shit's not going in.

The Ugly:

Puck security by the forwards leading to time after time with odd-man rushes against.
Eichel getting a hatty in this version of his return.
Tuch also smoked one off the post late

The Good: I'm drowning my angst in ice cream.

The Bad: The worry that this is the beginning of a long losing streak.

The Ugly: I was so ready to move on from Eichel but damned if this telecast continuously throwing him in our faces didn't stir up old anger.

I finally realized what people meant when they kept saying we were a year behind Ottawa and Detroit. It meant it would be another failed season before we were forced to try and improve the team. Which…doesn’t mean it will actually work. But now I have no choice but to root for whatever it takes to make them take this roster seriously.

Having all those forward prospects and nothing on D. Holding a spot for a goalie who won’t be here for years. Has to stop. Lose as much as it takes to make it stop.

Ottawa lost 6 straight and the only difference between us and Detroit is Husso either being bad or unbeatable + 3 loser points.

Oh, ice cream! What kind?

Don't worry too much, this IS now a long losing streak. :D

And fully agree on ESPN's presentation. Jack moved on. Good for him. He had a major hand in how all of that happened and yet here we are, with Buffalo fans being portrayed as the villains for not liking how Jack got term, dollar, the C, and still asked out before he was ever hurt. The dude quit on the fans and the dislike is more than reasonable.

Of the six shots they gave up in the second period - two were breakaways (stopped) and one a 2-on-1 (GA). I don't know which assistant is coaching the d-men to go right at guys on the rush, but it's not working. The forwards are noticeable when they are supporting defensively and this was not one of those games.

The sour grapes in the game thread over Jack Eichel is honestly pathetic. No one on this board should give him a second thought; the praising of getting the cancer off this team, so glad he's gone, etc that happened after the trade. Jesus, get over it. This organization failed the players, the city and the fans for a decade and whether we were willing to face it or not, it was time to part ways. The scar tissue on Eichel, Reinhart, Ullmark, O'Reilly, is so apparent. Not a single one of them was going to stay. Funny how players leave and regularly find success while the Sabres continue to flounder.

Stop looking to point the finger and play the blame game when it's clear what the common denominator is. Bunch of f***ing losers you lot can be sometimes. I'm not mad at Vegas, I'm happy they exposed this group. This ownership, this management, and parts of this coaching staff have continually come up short. They shouldn't be given a f***ing inch until the prove otherwise over an entire season. Demand better

yeah it goes back to last year, that D aggressive push in the neutral zone on a potential odd man, Joki got caught a bunch which led to a lot of Joki what are you doing? its coached for some reason

Losing streaks happen, but I don’t think Comrie and Andy are the answer between the pipes. How’s UPL been doing? You can’t keep giving up shitty goals and expect a young team to have confidence with their goalies.

The Sabres just went toe to toe with the best team in the WC, got it to 6-4 down the stretch, and had extended play where they outplayed the VGKs.

Two weeks ago, all the axes were in the sheds. Now it’s grinding time……

I liked how they played tonight against a very good team.

But having a sieve for a goalie can really suck the air out of a team.
