I have a feeling Whitely will be included as part of the deal. Disgraced player for disgraced player.

I have no problem with Giles being part of the return. Ha has a 2.28 FIP this year. He got demoted based on a high BABIP and a low strand rate. Those things aren't likely to continue.

Don't agree with trading him just to stand on sort of moral high-ground. As an organization we don't believe in a 2nd chance/rehabilitation? Not even an attempt to try to be supportive and work with Osuna to help him deal with his demons, what a classy organization lmao.

This is a joke.

Giles is a 27 year old closer with a career FIP of 2.25 He could easily be flipped next year for Top prospects after his ERA rebounds to match his FIP.

Saw an article suggesting Giles to the Jays a while back and thought it was ridiculous. No idea what the appeal of him is for the jays.

3 years of Osuna (23 years old: 6.6 WAR over 223 innings). 5.3M

FOR

3 years of Giles (27 years old: 7.9 WAR over 274 innings). 4.6M

I doubt we get much more but hopefully we are getting more and/or moving Giles. Giles still has a huge arm

There is more, the question is how much.

Thanks for the switch, Bert. I was just turning my computer on to make the change.

And to everyone else: friendly heads up that this shouldn't turn into another referendum on domestic violence and the validity/nature of the charges against osuna. It's basically a political issue and that's outside the scope of what HF is meant for in its open forums.

Ken Giles coming back is great with me. Issues with Astros and bad luck will make him undervalued. The question is what else.

Astros system is weird. 3 MLB top 100 guys, and I'd sure as hell want a top 100 guy, but 2 top 10 guys I assume we can't get. The other is a outfielder which we may need, but they said they were going after pitchers who we need more.

Cionel Perez maybe? He has good numbers but isn't a top 100 MLB guy.

Obviously the jays did this because they're going for the playoffs and need a closer now and can't wait until August 5th :sarcasm:

Would it be better to forego Giles and get just prospects back? trading for a soon to by 28 year old closer seems like a good idea to buy low on the eve of a deep playoff run. At the start of what I had hoped would be a rebuild of sorts, I'm not sure.

I don't care about the Osuna situation so if both aren't coming back regardless how unrealistic I'll be pissed
I mean there was no way in hell he'd be getting both before the suspension, unless you meant one or the other.
