Like look of Quinn showing up in Boston

Edit: Sounds like he needs to give another player the ol' stone cold stunner to play still

Some very rough weather out in the northeast. Hope is flight makes it there safely.

I wonder who they opt to pair Quinn with? Not Fox. Won't run 2 guys who can handle the puck together. Either going to be the youngster Faber or have one of the lefties slide over to the right side with McAvoy out. Other lefties are Werenski, Slavin, Hanifin, and Sanderson.

Man, what drama. Hope McAvoy is okay. Imagining if Hughes draws in to the freaking championship game after not playing since January 31st. He'll be a massive game changer for the States if he's able to dress.

Apparently Tocchet told Pettersson to go to the Four Nations and 'just have fun'. I hope he had some fun. Because from my limited viewing, he didn't do a damn thing on the ice.

Just a continuation of a mind-numbingly disappointing season.

Yeah, Quinn’s gonna play huh?

Now is the appropriate time to be afraid.

Sounds like he's mostly moral support at this point. Similar to what happened with Canada, the player isn't even allowed to practice unless there is another injury on defense.

Hughes coming in like the Rohirrim. Not good for Canada at all. Makar was their equalizer and Hughes is every bit his equal.

Edit: Tortorella about to send a bottom pairing defenceman to Belize.

Aim high blocker side or 5 hole.

I still remember Boeser and Horvat laughing their asses off in that series.

That was such a fun series. Our core was at its best. Pettersson and Hughes were unreal on the entire run.

For this tournament to reach truly legendary status, the best defenseman in the world needs to step on the ice for the final

Makar vs Hughes is going to be insane. The two best offensive defencemen of their generation, in a fight to the death. Thursday will be must-see TV.

I don't know if this tournament would be so amazing if done every year, I think it should be every second year to give us international hockey between the Olympics.

If Quinn is in, States win.

I agree, unfortunately they have played a very structured game and Hellebuck is absolutely amazing. Binnington is ass in comparison.

Christ, they can put Hughes and Slavin on the top pairing and then Werenski on the second pairing. That core is beyond stacked. I doubt we even control the puck against that top pairing. Would do borderline illegal things to acquire Slavin

Happy for Quinn. Hopefully he gets to play. Makes me laugh though how the league makes rules. This is quite possibly going to be the most hyped/watched hockey game in the last decade but let's not allow the leagues most exciting player to participate.

Imagine being Tocc sitting around the table with the other coaches as they lay out the game plan to run Quinn at every opportunity

Yup, run him hard every chance they get. Tom Wilson should have been in the lineup. Scheifele as well for Marner who doesn't really do anything in games like these.

I don't see how. You'd need another defenseman on the US to be injured by Thursday, and any "illness" or anything fishy will be highly scrutinized.
Scrutized by who? The NHL that's running the tournament and wants the biggest ratings and most stars possible?

There's already a lot of reports of illness on the team, if another guy goes down they're not gonna look too hard.

Anyone remember when multiple high profile execs in Minnesota quit citing a toxic work culture with Bill Guerin, and investigations into alleged inappropriate behaviour and practices were conducted? And then nothing happened, everyone went radio silent, and he failed upward into the US GM spot?

He's sure created a banner day for the people who always said "keep politics out of hockey", when what they clearly meant was "your rainbow jerseys offend my delicate sensibilities".

f*** that guy.

I could see it, but having Jake Sanderson come down with a mysterious illness for Thursday would turn everything into a total joke. Maybe they allow it, I dunno, but not sure why you'd even have any rules in the first place. Major insiders have already reported Hughes probably can't play, which is probably coming from the league.

Rules are stupid to begin with. Just let them play and say that the finals is different and will have different rules. At the end of the day, Canada will complain, but this is for the growth of the game rather than international success. If this were the Olympics, I'd be upset.
