Maybe it's because I *have* to be more hopeful that EP40 recovers, but I think it's more likely he does with a good off-season regimen. Every player in the NHL is training properly, and not doing it means you aren't at the top of your game. Sedins got a talking to by Ohlund about training and became the best conditioned guys on the team, even in their last season.

also he needs a sports psychologist, stat.

At this point it will be a miracle if EP can live up to that contract.

Some won't agree but I think the best course of action is to give him a proper off season, with a focused training regime. Yeah there's the looming NMC and if it goes bad it just makes things harder not impossible.

At his worst Pettersson is likely still a PPG player who doesn't hurt you defensively. Some of the trade options banded about aren't better than that. At his best, he returns to the peaks of 22/23. To me that's a gamble worth taking.

I just dont get how he is so allergic to attempting anything. What the hell happened there? He can f***ing do it. You see him when he does stick handle but he doesn't.

By the comments on the last few pages, I take it he was complete disaster. Probly a lot of over reaction.
Yeah he wasn't a complete disaster but basically did nothing and contributed nothing, which is more of the same of him recently. Just a total non factor and doesn't drive play in the slightest. god its so depressing to watch

Or he has a good summer working on his knee and he’ll be fine
I just don't buy that his off-ice training is the biggest reason he is playing this bad. I'm sure it's played a factor in his struggles but I can't recall a superstar player falling off this badly from a poor off-season. Crosby missed almost a season with a broken neck and came back to score 4 goals his first game back. OV used to come into camp 20 pounds overweight after an off-season of drinking wodka, only to rattle off another 50+ goal season.

Pettersson doesn't have to be Crosby or OV but, at some point, he's skilled enough that he has to show some flashes of the player he once was. But, game after game, it's always the same result. The mental seems more of a factor than the physical.

His entire personality and attitude has changed over the past few years.

When he came into the league, he was this guy with extreme confidence and used to try those few 1 in a million moves every game. How many one timer goals from the face off dot would he score? He would attempt it every game. Now he doesnt even shoot.

He also was huge in social media and streamed playing video games on twitch and joined youtube shows like on the bench. He wanted the attention that time.

Last few years hes this quiet guy who just dumps the puck in and changes. Stopped posting on social media. Stopped celebrating when the team scores, when the team wins.
