I'd rather he gets the rest along with all the nucks, but nice accomplishment and recognition for Lankinen.
 
Would prefer our Stars be rested for the stretch drive and playoffs tbh.

4 teams in a gimmick tournament, no thanks.

Better than the All-Star game tho and a week off will be helpful to banged up players.

The flipside is he somehow reignites his offensive mojo in this tournament especially if he gets to play with Nylander/Forsberg, but I totally see your POV as well.

The Swede looks stacked on D, G and wings, but their C isn't very good, at least not in a tournament like this. Unless Nylander and play C, or if Petey rebound to be a top 10 C in the world, that area seems like a weakness for Team Sweden.
 
I wish our stars would decline to attend.

Yeah agreed, this looks like a giant waste of time. I much prefer the Olympics if we're gonna have a best on best ditty.

Finns all together are not providing a lot of talent to the NHL. Since 2009 draft only 15 Finns outside the 1st round are currently playing in the NHL. Basically 1 Finn outside the round per year.
The first round rate is only about 1 per year as well. 21 since 2010 draft.
There is usually about 15 Finns drafted per year.

not sure why they didn't just do a global team instead of finland. get ovechkin included, avoid "russia" as a flag... also include guys like kopitar, josi, who are punished from being from smaller hockey countries, on top of malkin, kucherov, vasi, etc.

but no, need to preserve the sanctity of this classic tournament. they couldn't have possibly proceeded with calling it the nhl cup instead of the "four nations"...

I don't really care much, but if these helps elevate ep's game even more to see where he is at in these games, that's better—hopefully not the other way around.

then they could just go to the olympics lol and let the ioc decide if russians can play

as is, having bettman and co. use their discretion is stupid

anyways, the us would win either way... which is gonna be wildly annoying. hope canada or sweden can pull one off. hughes doesn't need this to bolster the hhof resume
