I keep my burgers super simple. Medium ground, salt and pepper sprinkled on top. Cooked over charcoal or a smash burger on the stove.

Fried onions, pickle slice, a little ketchup, mustard and mayo. Fluffy white bun toasted.

I’ve “perfected” a simple cooked breakfast. Small piece of cornbread, scoop of chili (on top or on the side), topped with a fried egg or two. Slices of avocado on the side optional.

Honestly, the only reason people drink it is because they are addicted to it.

You can live in denial if you like, but no one would smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, or coffee, if they didn't possess addictive properties. They all taste like absolute ****.

Good beer tastes like candy to me, I don't know what you're talking about...

It's not an 'acquired taste,' that's denial speak for dependence/addiction. The first time you ever had alcohol it tasted like crap.

Hence, acquired taste.

The first time you ate blue cheese it tasted like crap.

The first time you ate 95% cocoa chocolate it tasted like crap.

The first time you ate full fat fermented cheese/yogurt, it tasted like crap.

It's well established that 'acquired taste' is a phenomenon that is driven predominantly through social conformity and dependence. It's an empty statement.

I love how touchy people get when their dependencies are pointed out. I have no problem admitting that I only smoke cigarettes because I am addicted to nicotine; or drink alcohol because of the same reasons and derive 'benefits' from their isotropic properties. More people should just own up to that fact. Cigarettes and alcohol are both toxic to our body - and our body acutely know this - yet we continue to consume them.

If alcoholic beverages possessed no alcohol and tasted the same, 95% of the people wouldn't drink them. It's as simple as that.

The first time you ate candy it was fantastic. And probably as you became an adult you ate less of it, not because you're less addicted but because tastes evolve.

How many kids love mushrooms, olives, strong cheese, or any vegetable?

Acquired tastes can be confused with addictions like nicotine or alcohol, but they're not the same things.

Its driven by many things, not just by those things. Read up on flavor-flavor and flavor-nutrient development, and stop being so smug about things when you dont know enough about it.

It's also well established fact that alcohol, coffee, cheese, sausages, pickles and any sort of thing that people with a children's set of tastebuds turn their nose up to contain volatile compounds which interact with our taste buds in ostensibly delicious ways.

We're not touchy, we're ridiculing you.

375 : Kriek, Geuze
750 : Kriek, Geuze, Cuvée St-Gilloise and Grand Cru Brusocella

One of each = 99,50, all inclusive.

Living in Holland I miss Canada quite often. This is the one thing that I like better about Holland than Canada.

However, not all belgian beers are cheaper here than in Canada. Westvleteren XII is still a billion dollars. The only thing that's different over here is that you can find it in beer cafes occasionally.

Actually, less than 100 CAD for 3.75 litres of Cantillon is borderline dirt cheap for North American Standards.

I did order a Westy in 2018 in a bar.

Refried black beans are the boss. Chop up a couple of pieces of bacon (or 1 chorizo) fried it crisp and add the beans and a TSP of chili powder. Once the beans are hot add some cilantro, a good squeeze of lime, and a couple of TBSP of salsa.

Use it with any Mexican recipe that requires refried beans. Huevos rancheros and burritos are awesome.

I take it you’re using Mexican chorizo not Spanish?

They're similar enough in flavour that it doesn't matter. Obviously a raw product will need more preparation than a cured one though. Make sure you taste the chorizo before you add it in to prevent a spicier dish than you like. :)

Thanks. I made Mexican chorizo once, it’s pretty easy, I used a Rick Bayless recipe. I love spicy so no worries on the spiciness for me

I have to agree that there is some brand of coffee that tastes like crap. Mostly the cheap ones.

I tried iced coffees once and I only too a few sips before throwing it in the trash
