The best burger I've ever eaten had beetroot relish. It's at a restaurant called Krafty in Kelowna. In europe I'm ecstatic to find a competently made cheeseburger because you get the weirdest burgers here. Like, an alien-who-is-wearing-a-human-suit-and-trying-to-fit-in's idea of a hamburger. There's a place in Amsterdam that gives me everything I want out of my cheeseburger experience.
Like a burger in an Edgar suit
Beetroot relish is probably pickled as is most beets I’ve had elsewhere but in Oz it’s just a big slice of beet but guess you have to expect a little different in a place where you can get Roo, Emu, Croc & even Camel burgers

Cate Blanchett was on Jimmy Fallon's show last week and mentioned how she's always disappointed by US burgers as they don't contain any beets, caramelized onions and eggs.

First, she proceeded to introduce a traditional Australian burger, which she slapped down to get the egg to ooze out.

And then she presented a veggie burger that she called the Superiority Burger. Here's the segment:

Found the Superiority Burger recipe here:

Superiority Burgers

Not sure if there's a Y/T video using exactly this recipe.

Has anyone tried it?

As for the Aussie style meat burger, there are several Y/T videos that I've seen, with variations, but they include a pineapple slice, bacon, tomato, cheddar cheese, lettuce together with the caramelized onion, beets and egg. Simple enough, will try it.

Any food that you can plop a fried egg and/or bacon on top of is objectively awesome.

Loose leaf Chinese Oolong is my hot beverage of choice. I do not drink coffee or crude oil, so can't comment on that.
Yeah, I never got over the fact that while the smell of coffee is quite pleasant, the actual taste of it is something akin to pouring water into an ashtray full of cigarette butts, swishing it around until it achieves the desired coloration and then drinking it.

Local grocery store decided to stock Paulaner instead of degenerate Erdinger again. Today was a good day.

I drink so much coffee I used to drink some right before bedtime - the warmth was comforting. Nowadays I'll have my last one right after supper, so 19:00ish on most days. Some days it keeps me up at night, somesome no.

Stupid question coming but I’m allergic to kidney beans, good with whatever baked beans (British bake beans) are made of, are black beans any relation to kidney beans as I love Mexican food so would like to try them and refried beans

Refried black beans are the boss. Chop up a couple of pieces of bacon (or 1 chorizo) fried it crisp and add the beans and a TSP of chili powder. Once the beans are hot add some cilantro, a good squeeze of lime, and a couple of TBSP of salsa.

Use it with any Mexican recipe that requires refried beans. Huevos rancheros and burritos are awesome.

It's funny cause the Aussies are all switching over to American style burgers now - thank god!! Beetroot and eggs do not belong on a burger. Until recently you couldn't even get orange cheese anywhere - white cheddar just doesn't taste the same or maybe it's optics. What they call bacon is just ham, again a fail on a burger but finally getting crispy bacon (they call it streaky bacon). Pineapple's ok on a chicken burger but not beef.

I agree with Blanchett that caramelized onions are way better in burgers than raw onions. I've made an Australian-style burger and would agree the only disturbing part was the pineapple for me -- it interfered with the other components which in and off themselves I found were already flavorful enough and worked well together.

This reminds me of one of my favorite burgers. Chicken breasts with swiss cheese, fried and crisp jalapenos like you do with onion rings, caramelized onions, sparce pieces of bacon, a mixed mayo/sourcream with chipotle sauce. And some salad to top it off. Some times I add grilled red peppers. Or sometimes just fresh sliced tomatoes.

When I make beef burgers with caramelized onions, I usually add dill pickle slices.

That chicken burger sounds delicious. I'd also try pesto instead of the mayo sour cream, asiago cheese, and pancetta or proscuitto to replace the bacon. Maybe arugula for some balance. Obviously keep the onions and jalapenos.

Usually 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I'll usually just have a ''kleine brauner'' (single espresso topped up with milk) in the afternoon though.

Yeah I'd eat that.

On the point of carmelized vs raw onion they're different things for different purposes. If your burger has no acidic bite to it whatsoever, it's just a shitty burger. The addition of dill pickles in your case is compensating for the added richness of the carmelized onions, which makes a lot of sense. For a regular cheese burger, though, I prefer some form of salad onion: either red onion or shallot sliced thin.

Lol, that's exactly the reference.

I don't want any of those animals in my hamburger lol.

I drink it black. I used to have about 8 during the work day but had to cut back. So now it's about 4 any time of the week. Usually stop at about 4, but in the summer I will often make a frappe late afternoon or early evening.

Honestly, the only reason people drink it is because they are addicted to it.
