Some smoothie sours are great. But it's not something I'd suggest drinking more than a can per session, because that's a whole lot of unfermented sugars.
I can guarantee you that will never happen!lol

I will however be discreetly monitoring what beer is consumed later this year when we attend the Oktoberfest in Munich,we'll see how many of those badboys are flying off the shelves. I could probably hazard a guess already be it premature.lol.

Any wine suggestions for beef ribs on a smoker?
Also curious to hear for any other wine suggestions.
For future reference I recommend getting an app on your mobile device. Never be at a loss again and saves face from some snooty snickering server when ordering the improper wine.

For those of us who can’t get to Munich for Oktoberfest, I remember that there were several local editions pre-pandemic: Stuff Your Face With German Sausages & Beer At These Quebec Oktoberfest Celebrations

I wonder how many of these are back this year.

Have you done Oktoberfest in Munich before? If so, what’s the experience like? Does it involve people gorging on beer and sausages and then vomiting randomly around the site? Whenever I see images from the event, everything appears to be done in excess.

Never had an orange before, was inspired by your post. Had this one with some shrimp, pretty darn good : Maturana Wines Naranjo Valle del Maule Loncomilla
Curious to hear your favorite, thanks in advance

I don't have favorites per se. Mostly because I don't take notes. The Orange Meinklang is super accessible though.

I just... Don't really like red wine, and really can't picture any reds with ribs. Though there's probably a great red wine ribs sauce to be made.

That link won't come up for me.

Oktoberfest is celebrated the world over but nothing compares to the place of origin, naturally.
I suspect that you see 'hits'' from ig or whatever, but it's like any other event where there are gobs of people partying, some overdue it, some don't and are responsible. Is there anyone ever that has drunk lifelong and never been sick? I'm actually probably overdue for a good old hurling.lol
We've gone a few times over the decades when the timing worked out,it's fun! and not all that far away until we moved and would not go specifically for that from so far away.

Thx for that. That link was from Mtlblog.com. You can get to the article by putting Oktoberfest in its search box.

How long do you stay and do you spend your time hopping to and from several locations? It sure looks like fun when you see clips of it.

I'll try it again later, might be blocked.

Can't really compare what we did in our 20's,30's etc to now,but who can. Now it's pretty much go to where you want and spend all the time there,it's more than enough. There are tons of people just milling about taking it all in,some just sit and drink or watch the bands, lots of choices.

Looks like the action is easy to get to. Can you easily navigate from one location to another? What’s a good length of stay before you’ve seen and tasted enough?

We treat it now like having dinner out, might linger longer than the typical dinner out with the live music and slowly make our way back to our accommodations, pausing if something of interest happens to be in front of us,we just kind of play it by ear ya know.

Would a week’s stay be enough?

Sure, that's more than enough. I suppose so much depends on how far someone is willing to travel for an event. You're in the Montreal region correct? long way to go for a week when a few days is usually enough for most unless you're already there or in relativity close proximity. Can always incorporate Oktoberfest with some other destinations as so much is close by.

I finally got to see that link, thanks for the snipe hunt.lol. Seems like all activity has been dormant for years. What I did notice is that many of the foods that would typically be present were not. Perhaps the pandemic killed the desire to continue such events? Kitchener Ontario supposedly has the best Oktoberfest in Canada, but if driving that far, probably just as quick to get to Munich.

Arctic char fillets on sale at Costco so I did them on the grill tonight using this recipe: Honey-Dijon Arctic Char Recipe

Cooking time is accurate, came out moist and juicy. Used Cookina.

The black part is the skin that shredded after I flipped the char.

I think you took the type of fish too literally.lol.
I could have just slathered it with mayo and mustard, like I always do with salmon (this type of fish is like a mix between trout and salmon) and slapped it in the oven instead of using the grill but it tasted great so well worth trying. I don’t usually buy this product.

I just came back from a fishing trip. I'm too lazy to dig up the outdoors thread but one guy made fresh trout tartar and it was just as good as salmon. I didn't take pictures of that meal sadly. I only have some of the fishes we caught

I think trout and salmon are from the same family. Salmonidae

Steelhead are good example, is born in fresh water streams but also lives in the ocean. Looks like a giant rainbow trout

We do a lot of fishing but never cook with mayo or mustard. But that combo with some adaptation makes a wonderful dressing for a chefs salad or for dipping chicken nuggets.

Nice! if the fish is parasite free,no worries.
If you ever get a chance to go fishing ''Down Under'' get to the north and go for barramundi. This happens more often than people realize, and that's why we only use big boats. lol

Looks like have to hit the link

They gave me a dirty look ordering a Heineken 0 at a pub in Dublin I'm posting this from.

When I ordered food, and told them I'm vegan (inquired about dairy being present in any of the ingredients of the plate I'm ordering), I was sure I was going to be kicked out.
