Why am I moving a Flag from the Oilers to Blackhawks after 40+ years?
First nail in me being an Oiler fan was when the Oilers hired Bowman. You know what he did and the cover up that he ran. I do not have mention what he did and the subject matter it covers. When I was 13 I dealt with it happening to me.
Final nail is me being an oiler fan? Babcock being hired. He is a bully. Unrepented bully. Due to what happened with the first nail I was bullied for nearly 10 years. So between covering up what happened with the 1st nail and all bullying Babcock did. Goes without saying I am laying down my oiler colours.
Why the blackhawks
Old timers may remember the old world crossing discussion board. It had a lively Blackhawk discussion board. From there, I found blackhawkzone.com (frank's old board) and wirtzsucks.com (Miller confirmed that when Billy was on his death bed he got a request to change the websites name--Miller's response--"Only when he is dead") it was through the worldcrossing site, Blackhawkzone and wirtzsucks that I found HFboards many year ago
But why the hawks--Been to Chicago a few times.. The best bar with friendliest people was Mother Hubbards. One of the best bars in the world I have every been to. Great food, beer and great bar games. The first time I was there the bar game was 6 degrees of separation of actors. I thought I knew my shit--they left me in the dust..
Oiler fans are celebrating my defection as most of hate my posts cause I often call them being sheep and bullshit artists.
My first observation is about Byram trade. He becomes you default number 1 d man. You have a couple of good young guys coming up but you do not have all the vets you need to bridge the gap to help the kids. With Byram, depending on the ~$$$ he gets on his next contract--if it is about 8 mill a year? You have a guy who can play 20 to 25 minutes a night--somewhat safely. Oilers screwed up waiting too long to get a D man that can play big minutes and that is what Byram can do. Love it or hate, the rebuild ends and it comes about winning. The 4th overall pick is about 3 to 5 years away from being a known entity. Getting a number 1 D man comes at the cost. Hawks can pay it now or later. Levshunov is developing but he needs time and I think Byram will be a vetren who Leveshnov can grow with. I could be wrong and often am
