With the disappointing early playoff exits the Avs have had since the cup win in 2022, I’m just curious to see what our fan base thinks.

Right now I feel no, because the past few seasons been so ****, BUT I do think Makar and MacK has few more proper runs left for the Cup and that's all what matters. We will have a chance to win a Cup, we just need our Kessel move. CMac needs to find our Kessel.

Imo. Swap Girard for well skating bigger D and good first pass. Done with the Muppets in playoffs. Find the #2 center for the next season. Don't overplay the stars during the regular season and fill the small holes at trade deadline and we should be good. Overall we don't have too many leaks at this moment.

In the end, we should call ourselves lucky. We have team Canada's starting defensive pairing. #2 center.. that's ridiculous standard already. Then add the rest. This team has insane amount of talent and it's not as bad as it looks now. They will rise again.

This. I know I am probably overrating the impact, but Landy being on the ice and leading should help solidify overcoming adversity. I think he will make a huge psychological impact if he can play for the duration of an entire year. We haven't had a captain since the cup. I think it matters a lot. This team is still very much a contender. If Brock signs and has time to build chemistry with Landy on the second line, we will be very dangerous. I agree with Girard being traded for a different style of defenseman. We have Malinski and Gulyayev that are similar in trait and skillset. We need another Manson/Foote type for the third pair; second really since Manson is held together with duct tape as this stage of his career. As for Wood and Colton, I would probably send them packing for fresh blood on the third line as well. Colton's versatility would be hard to replace. Drouin can stay if he gets paid the same as his last contract, but I would keep Colton or Kiviranta over him easily. We also can start the year with solid goaltending.

The core of Makar and MacKinnon (and hopefully a healthy enough Landy) can, but they will need to have some notable changes in the players around them as well as mentality. The team as a whole (coaching and players) seems to have lost their hunger, they let a lot of opportunities slip right through their fingers.

I will say, I think the biggest change will be that Bednar needs to start altering his “system” around the players he has rather than demanding players bend to his system. Let players play to their strengths instead of being stubborn with what you want

The cup team is gone. Kadri, Bura, Helm, Cogs, Bo, ect. That group had something special. I mean, look at it, we beat the two time defending champions... An elite Tampa club with a shit ton of weapons and cup experience. But we won, and also, we did it with a goalie with the worst save percentage for a cup winner since Grant Fuhr in 1988. That's how good that team was.

It's all gone now though. Why did they f***ing let Kadri go?!!! You honestly thought Newhook was gonna take over that role? He looked like shit in those playoffs. You won the cup without G, why the f*** didn't you give his salary to Nazzy?!! How many f***ing clutch goals did he score for us? We would still have all of those assets if they had just made room for him...

And as for the players that are left, they have the talent, but the heart isn't quite there. Meaning, they don't want it, like they once did. To get that cup, and make that grind to 16 wins, you have to want it so f***ing bad. Those assholes couldn't even muster the juice to get Landy a win after coming back from career threatening injury! The homecoming we've all waited for for three years, and you can't get up for it! Are you kidding?!!!

Rant over.

Yes if a few things happen:

- Core players find the hunger to win again and remain focused
- Find a solid 2C
- No more bad trades for key players that underperform
- Might need to make some tweaks to the D core
- Get the same kind of injury luck they had in 24-25 going into the playoffs
- Get the same kind of solid goaltending they had in 21-22 and 24-25
- They have two net front presences in the lineup in the top 9 and one on the PP
- The power play doesn't go ice cold
- Cale Makar and Nate MacKinnon bury their chances

Pretty depressing read guys.

I think we were possibly 25 games more of building chemistry, synergy and harmony away from going all the way this season. Cmac changed 35% of the roster (due to salary cap restraints and roster management). Let's take a look at say the top 3 teams of the season proper, and review our very last games against them leading into the playoffs (with little chemistry & key injuries):

Jets (1st overall) - took them to overtime (23rd Jan)
Caps (2nd overall) - beat them (22nd Nov)
G. Knights (3rd overall) - beat them (9 April)

This CLEARLY shows we compete with the absolute best teams (as stated by the standings) in the league.

Reasons why we will continue to be an absolute heavyweight:
1. Culture (including coaching), ownership and management are ALL on point
2. Systems (regardless of who's in and out of this line-up, we still win)
3. Best forward, and best defenseman currently on this planet
4. Captain back from game one driving the culture and vibe
5. More time together, means more chemistry, combinations and synergies
6. We are a desired destination for RFA's and UFA's (example, Jets being knocked back for us)
7. Best group of fans on the face of this planet
8. Absolute elite players throughout the line-up (e.g. Nuke, Mack, Makar, Toews) + under rated players (Lehks, Drouin, G, both goalies)
9. Accountability - make no mistakes, Bennett was a shot across the bow here, and it would have system shocked a few
10. Compete - we are winners, we hate losing, we hate not progressing - this freight trains momentum is forwards

I want to go on, but that would just annoy some people. Get on board people. We are building something magical here. Be concerned. Be critical. It all adds to the excitement and passion of it all, and makes those great moments even sweeter. We aren't far off yet another Stanley Cup. Trust me.

Will they? Answer is no for every team.

Can they? Answer is yes for 13ish teams and we're one of them. But i think Bednar's system is hard to adjust to for players and is easily countered by other coaches that have half a brain.
