The Clutterbuck Appreciation Thread

In pretty much every game Clutterbuck seems to feel about the opposing team the way most players feel about the opposing team by around game 4 of a 7 game series. He doesn't need to build up a hatred of losing - it comes naturally.

not to stir the pot, but cal all but said he loved the coliseum so much more than barclays during his interview with hahn and dp

Oh boy. I hope they put this episode on the website.

i could be exaggerating, but its clear his preference was the NVMC

he was saying they have gotten more comfortable at barclays but that NVMC was special, especially last year...was easy to get to practice, etc.....definitely didnt bash barcalys by any means, but clearly loved nassau

Can't blame him. Especially as a player that thrives off of energy.

Is there anyone that would disagree with him though? I think if the Coliseum made the same amount of money as the Barclays and wasn't riddled with osbestos and literally falling apart, 99% of us would choose the Coliseum.

My friends had an idea for next year: if there is still a fan vote we all get together and get Cal in the ASG as the people's choice. That would be beautiful, after JT he's my favorite Isle and a real unsung hero.

Exactly right. It wasn't a choice between the Coli and Barclays. It was a choice between Barclays and.....nothing. The Coli was a great place to see a game and I'm sure the players dug it at as well.

That being said, I've always pegged Cal as one of the guys who would be more inclined to move to Brooklyn - maybe that will happen over time with some of the guys.

LIC always seemed a happy medium. Can get to Barclays in 15-20 min and can get to Eisenhower in about 40 or so.

I so love Buttercup.

Nina? We clearly were the winner of that trade straight up.

When it comes to playoffs I am going to wish we had about 3 more of him on this team.

I couldn't help but smile when he was back on the bench barking at his teammates to channel their "inner Tonelli". Almost knocked Frans over he was so amped up.

If only Bailey, Nelson and Okposo could catch some of that burning flame that is inside Cal's gut.

It wasn't stirring the pot, he made the comments so it's all fair game but since it's died down and gotten way from his comments lets officially end it here in this thread.

I like the way Cal sticks up for teammates. I remember last year versus the Rags Kreider ran over Halak and a few shifts later Cal checked Brassard right into the Queen. Tit for Tat.

Recently here we had Byfuglien slash Prince on the hands so Clutterbuck whacks Ehlers(?) with his stick for revenge. Then last night down to the last second he is sticking Letang and Kunitz.

Love that.

Okay which one of you did this?

Without his big goals all season, they are out of the playoffs.
He'll never have hands, speed, skills of what they traded for him and even for now Niederreiter's game 7 gives him the intangibles in biggest games to date.

This is #15's time at age 28 to take his game to it's highest level before he goes UFA in a year. Someone's going to give him more than eleven million and a 4th line spot next summer.

Clutterbuck is going to get PAID.

Isles should start to consider whether they want to give him a larger role and a higher salary or just keep him where he is and lose him soon.

Clutterbuck is more than capable of playing #3RW, I wouldn't mind paying him like one either. I'd keep him and Casey around for 5 more years. Cal, I'd do 15M/5 Yrs. in a heartbeat. Casey I'd try to get a little cheaper, maybe 2.5 AAV.

sign me up for both! I have a feeling Clutterbuck is going to get more than $3M per though. 15 goals on 4th line minutes is impressive.

This has been discussed previously on HF, but cappy should put cal on JTs wing more. He is a physical player, strong hands. He played with JT in juniors. Most importantly he will protect JT. But aside from that, Cal is pretty damn clutch. Now I know why minnesota fans miss this guy so much.

Him and Cizikas are third liners.

Agree! I wish that Snow had equipped this team to make a run when they could afford the 4th line to be a 4th line but it's just not going to happen.

I'd like to revamp the team where CC + CC are on line 3 and maybe you take the Kyle money and give it to Lucic. With Lucic you don't need Martin anymore.
