I want tattoo removal tooI'm fine with the core, but Keefe has to go. They also need to take haircuts.

Why do the 40 million dollar tinmen need to be inspired? The pre-game “speeches” from Bozo the Keefe were comically blasé and about as uninspiring as you could possibly get.
Compare that with Tortorella addressing Columbus before their series against Tampa. Obviously CBJ was badly outclassed from a talent standpoint, but Torts made sure they were going to compete on a physical level and Tampa was going to get the hell beat out of them regardless of the series outcome.
A well-earned roast.Smuckers doesn’t have enough jam for that.

How about; you have a chance to go down in Hockey history in Hockey mecca, you're all paid an insane amount, try not to f***ing suck for once you parasites.
They lost for the same reason 3 years in a row its obvious the top 4 needs at least one top 6 forward to help. Dubas spent most of his assets on 3rd and 4th liners for no reason. There can't be a good argument to bring the core back imo. We have changed everything from the bottom six, the whole defence, goaltending, coaches, and support staff. The core 4 is the problem --their attitude and effort.
You may "lose" those trades, but the team needs to go in a different direction before we can't (i.e., sign the core 4 to monstrous contracts). I would rather lose the trades (hopefully by a small margin) and re-tool, than another 2 years (potentially more if they sign extensions) of the same results.
I have a feeling it may be Nylander. Keefe kept on sending JT out there when he was clearly struggling and looking slow. He should have been double shifting Nylander.Very curious what the players were dissatisfied with. According to all reports the players like playing for Keefe.
And who chases in this lineup? Second line I'm ok with a third and fourth but who chases on the first?O
No, that’s exactly what Dubas FAILED do.
Instead of surrounding the core with tough, aggressive, fast skating, hard checking players he added more soft finesse players - - the only difference was they were less skilled.
Instead of dumping his buddy Bozo the Keefe, he insisted on sticking with him for five consecutive years of embarrassing coaching mistakes.
When players are struggling - - like Matthews and Marner clearly were against Florida - - a competent coach would scale back their ice time and send out guys who were playing better in the moment, instead of continuing to force feed them 22 to 24 minutes per game and 90 seconds of every power play.
When the opposition clogs the neutral zone with five players lined up across the blue line, a competent coach would employ the dump and chase instead of watching his core try to single-handedly stick handle through the opposition or turn around and skate backwards into their own zone.
Even ROR said they were out hit. Mariner and Mathews were ineffective. Nylander was one of the few forwards who kept driving, he had no puck luck. Reilly was awesome. They lost for the same reason 3 years in a row its obvious the top 4 needs at least one top 6 forward to help. Dubas spent most of his assets on 3rd and 4th liners for no reason.
A tougher 4th line will not change anything. They did not loose anything from toughness they lost because they only have 4 top 6 players.
JT? Guy’s as untradeable as Clarkson, let’s just hope he gets stripped and ends up on Robidas. He’s the softest and most uninspired of the bunch
I agree. Just because you can't sign the deal till July 1st does not mean you can't negotiate that deal.Shanahan is just making obligatory statements. If Matthews demands $15M AAV with a NMC they trade him immediately.
If rumors are true, Shanahan blocked some Dubas trade and forced Dubas to make move he was not agree with...View attachment 711556
I would agree with this approach because I’ve always viewed Dubas and Bozo the Keefe as being the biggest problems.
Having a competent GM who understands how to construct a roster that compliments the strengths of the core and compensates for the weaknesses of the core would be a massive upgrade for the franchise.
Having an NHL-calibre coach who can establish consistent line pairings, implement an effective scheme, make in-game adjustments and hold players accountable is something the Leafs haven’t had for the past half decade.
Wonder if all the shit talking nubes are still here when the season begins again.
He was thinking about Clarkson on the voiceYou know that the Leafs traded Clarkson, right?

If Dubas hadn’t pooched himself, we’ve just been maneuvered into accepting a run it back.8th times the charm? Preparation H version of the Matthews era?
If Shanahan just tried to use Dubas like his puppet or if Dubas didn't full capacity to do what he want as GM, how can we judge himDubas sucked regardless. The only problem with that scenario is why didn't he just fire him after MTL if he was going to hide behind him.
Yeah very aware, was one of the happiest memories as a Leaf fan and I legit thought it would never happen. You know that the Leafs traded Clarkson, right?
Okay.
Redistributed top players.
Change the lines.
marner not with Matthews
Nylander not with Tavares
