3 games in a row of giving up 5 goals a night to the worst teams in the league and instead of doing something to try and fix the defensive pairings/assignments we throw a 7th dman at them turning all the d pairings into a rotating mess and causing a shortage at forward. Im not a coach but this seems like a suspect solution

Not defending Saros per se, but is there any way with the current trajectory we’re anywhere close to a Cup whether Saros is in net or not?

I think everyone here would, but right now it’s tough to see that happening. We’re an old team with not much coming down the pipeline. We’re not bad enough to build an elite team, nor are we good enough to fight for the Cup.

Many would say that we’re right there where you don’t want to be - in the mushy middle with little to no hope of escaping from it.

I dont think we will be competitive while Bruno is here. He system doesnt work with this team. I dont think Trotz cans him until the end of next season. By that time our current major players RoR, Stamkos, Josi, and Marchessault are all on the extreme back end of their career. Notable exceptions: forsberg and Saros both both on the older end. Unless we have a major breakthrough from a young player, the team is S.O.L. Bruno doesnt give the young players real time with the top 6 so the transition will probably be pretty crappy.

Need to get away from Bruno asap IMHO. That would help alot towards making us competitive in that 8 year window. If we arent going to get away from Bruno, need to get away from Saros before his contract becomes out Gibson

Idk, this team is pretty bad. Worst defense I’ve seen since I was a Thrashers fan, and I don’t see it getting better any time soon.

This system is not great for goalies but i feel like a tall acrobatics goalie that can make reflexive saves would be better suited for this "system". Results may still not be great but that wouldnt cost is around 8M a year
