Post-Game Talk: The Cancel the Disneyland Trip: Preds @ Ducks

Ducks fans don't really have any room to talk shit at this point, and I think most fans that attend are ones that just love the team and want to see them do well. And SoCal fans are generally chill in general (OC moreso) outside of Dodgers riff raff.
Had a great experience. Really sad I paid $3,000 to watch that for a trip total. Some of the guys attitudes also suck ass. Nyquist is number 1 on trade him list based off his vibes.

I really got the vibes that Brunette is driving the direction of this franchise. Majority of the communication throughout the game was done by the assistant head coaches. The few times I saw Brunette talking with a player was Stamkos, Josi, Marchessault. I think it just validated a lot of what we have talked about. This franchise is in win now mode and NoNeck is deferring to the head coach. They really think we are a couple of lucky bounces from being a top 10 hockey club.

Simple math isn't on their resumé.

Thing is win now mode and the decisions Trotz made with Brunette just don't add up. I get prior to Thanksgiving having the feeling that things just aren't gelling or you've had some bad luck, but by the time the Christmas break rolls around you should be making a coaching change if the objective is winning now. Added to that when your players start publicly making statements about the coaching decisions, I think its time to move on if you want to salvage the season.

I still think alot of it is what I said earlier in the season, Trotz is trying so hard to be handsoff that he is actually failing in an aspect that should be a strength with a GM that is a former coach. He's giving him too much rope if the goal is to win now.

I do think Trotz moved on from Fabbro, Parssinen, and Tomasino because Brunette didn't like them. The problem is it shouldn't have been the players getting moved, it should have been the coach. That's the point Trotz should have stepped up and told Brunette he was going to play those guys, and if he wouldn't then Trotz needed to adjust the roster size so he had zero choice in the matter.

Frankly I think we've reached the point where the blame no longer rests on Brunette's shoulders. This is on Trotz and his poor decision making now.

To tie a bow on some of the above posts, I know we weren't happy about contracts and usage of some previous defensemen, but some of those Anaheim goals could be traced back to mistakes by our defensemen. Josi failed at clearing a puck which led to a quick goal. Barron didn't know what he was doing, isn't physical in front of the net, has lousy positioning, and no stick work: another goal. Blankenburg has poor positioning in the PK, leaving a huge lane wide open for a cross ice pass and goal.

So while the offense has figured out how to score a bit against other bottom feeders, it looks like our ability to polish other teams scraps may be some wishful thinking. If we were really "win now", we'd be playing Fabbro and Carrier as the 1RD and 2RD [in a coherent system] and not giving up 5 goals a night on average.

And, yes, that's on Trotz.

So is there a reason we broke up the first line and put the old band back together tonight despite the fact the first line has actually been pretty decent?
I think they wanted to get Stastney back in the lineup and they pulled Vinny. Because of that, they were messing with lines all night long, which is why we saw Fil with ROR and Gus.

I hate that he did this because the kid line of Svech, Novak and ZLH has been very good lately and they hardly played together. Sit one of the other defensemen. And while we're at it, give Bellows a shot with ROR and Gus or call up Kemell and give him a shot. Vinny is useless.
