Providence Bruins The Bruins are sniffing at Manchester, NH

The Red Sox don’t care that I used to go to 20 PawSox games/year and have been to the WooSox once, opening season.

Neither will the Bruins that I’ve had a partial PBs ST package for 15 years. Maybe I’ll go to an occasional game in Manchester, but not too likely.

I will say this, the PBs are garbage compared to the rest of the AHL for game experience. I saw my first game in Springfield in probably 20 years last weekend, and it was a blast. So, ditching LaRue and his cheapness would certainly be a massive improvement.

LaRue claims to love hockey, but he was the driving force behind the disastrous 1996 World Juniors in Boston.

Fred Cusick called the first-ever game in Manchester in 2001, and he raved about the arena. I had a lot of fun working on these games.

Harry Sinden was the only reason the Bruins suspended their AHL team in the 70s as he didn't want to deal with running it.

A team in Manchester can use the same practice rink the Monarchs used.

When I was in HS my twin friends' father owned a company that sponsored the Monarchs and he had a suite at the arena.

We would go every weekend and it was always a blast.
Portland, Worcester, Providence, Manchester, and Lowell developed a good AHL rivalry.

Manchester being demoted to the ECHL was an impossible sell as not only was the hockey inferior but the scheduling was nuts. I remember the Monarchs hosting Greenville on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon.

Providence would not lose their team and they could rebrand as the old Providence Reds.

Those owners have been there around ten or so years. I have yet to have a bad time. They sell out when the B’s show up. My daughter has been on the ice at least four times for either dance or cheer. They bring in the local towns. Fenomenal.

Monarchs won the Calder Cup the last year they were in Manchester before moving to Ontario (california), it was so random and awesome and sad at the same time.

The Jacobs Family once again is playing chess

They want the MBTA Commuter Rail to be restored to Manchester, as the tracks are still there, and that would bring more passengers into North Station, which they control.

From a hockey viewpoint, Manchester and Providence are a wash for player movement.
I would go to more AHL games if they played in Manchester.

I remember going when the NHL was on strike to see the baby Bs. We had fun. Shorter drive home than Boston for me.

I bought a couple of seats on the glass. I remember Steve Babineau (photographer of the Bs since Bobby Orr days) came over and said hi as he was there taking pictures since there was no Bs games.

I haven't been to a Providence Bruins game in many many years. Probably over 20. Used to go to tons when I was a kid though. All the best memories. I think tickets were 7 bucks, but my father is a cheapskate mastermind. We would get there a little early and just stand around in the box office area. Eventually somebody would call out that they had tickets and Pops was usually there for them before the guys would even finish yelling out "Who needs tickets?!"

It was always businesses that would send 1 guy to the arena with a fist full of tickets, and he would hand them out to his group. Inevitably people wouldn't show up and they'd be given away. I often wonder if we ever paid for tickets.

The games were always really good too. The arena sucked but the event was fun. There were always a few fights, sometimes line brawls, especially with Springfield/Portland/Albany in town.

There were a couple seasons in the mid 90's that were just blood baths. They met Springfield and Portland in the playoffs, attracted a college crowd with the "301 club" which was just a dingy corner mezzanine section. Such a great time for AHL hockey. We were a couple minutes late to a game once, the score was 2-1 and both penalty boxes were SRO.

That's all. I just wanted to take a trip down memory lane. Now that I think of it, I still have a T shirt I got from a Providence Bruins game birthday I had. It fits my kids now lol.

It would be monumentally stupid to move a long standing, popular and successful minor league affiliate...but then again we already saw Henry and Co do it to the Pawsox to cash a stadium check

I’m all for Manchester much closer for me and me and Eric have our pregame place to eat
