I dont think it was horrible or anything, had some great moments for sure. And I think the finale has set up the final season extremely well.

But I also felt like quite a bit of filler occurred this season that didn't really add much value to the season so far(Hughie's father, Deeps Love Triangle, Noir talking at all).

Overall a solid like 7.5/10 for me, but I'd probably have the other seasons all in the 8.5-9/10 range I think.
The stuff with Hughie's father was one of the stronger parts of the show though. It may have been a side story but I thought it was really well done.

He's dead. Neuman killed him
I think you're thinking of how she killed the prison transport driver who was taking Edgar to prison. There is zero indication that Neuman killed Edgar off camera and there's no way they'd do that to such a big character and waste Esposito like that. Last mention of him was Homelander indicating skepticism about Neuman's feigned ignorance of how he escaped prison.

Deep is mainly comic relief so he's not going to advance the plot much. They kind of set him and Black Noir II as the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of The Seven. "I thought that was Ashley."

Had a couple minor things spoiled for me thanks to YouTube thumbnails, but I still enjoyed it. Unfortunately it looks like 2026 for the next season. Maybe Gen V season 2 for next summer?

Edit:

RIP other Ashley, for some reason that hit me more than Neuman

I was more amused that it was Noir 2 who took out Ashley 2 "everyone around here is named f***ing Ashley" lol

Screencrush did a nice recap video and an ending explained video which connects a lot of dots across the series.

Can’t post it right now

Watched the first episode of "Those About to Die" its meh. The bad cgi and so much green screen work instead of real sets really drags the series down. Anthony Hopkins looks good for 86 years old though. I'll probably still watch the rest though because anything with gladiators and these ancient Roman days is still entertaining to me

Definitely dont agree with this at all.

I mean I guess I shouldve said season but I'd expect your opinion on it would be the same. I don't know to me it hit an emotional resonance that worked better than anything outside of Butcher's scenes with Ryan and Kimiko's last scene. Sure it was a total side story but I thought it was really effective character storytelling for Hughie.

Some thoughts on where season 5 might head:

- after being reawakened, Solider Boy has a tense reunion with Homelander before Cate mind controls him
- they’ll use him and the Communist lie to conduct vengeful acts acting as a Starlight to help push their agenda getting them into the internment camps
- this is likely part of Sage’s phase 2 plan
- Soldier Boy eventually regains control and joins The Boys

- Annie will find Queen Maeve to help her. She’ll give that V that Hughie never used in season 3 to get Maeve her powers back

- Frenchie was taken to develop an anti-virus for that super virus he created

- Kimiko, Hughie, and MM will be taken to the same facility Moreau and company were left in Gen V
- I’m guessing Moreau won’t be there because of season 2 of Gen V but she could be depending on the timing.

I really hope there are legs to the rumor that Jared Padalecki will have a small role in Season 5. Might as well fit Misha Collins in there somewhere as well for a full Supernatural reunion (I never saw Gen-V but I saw the actor for Jack in a quick flash in the season finale)

It's been 4 seasons and barely anybody important has died. Butcher was on death's door basically this entire season for f***s sake.

Like why hasn't Homelander just straight deleted these fools by now. I dunno, I just don't like this show as much as a lot of people do. I don't really like superheroes the way a lot of people do either so disclaimer I guess. The kind of shock value they offer was fun for a while but the total lack of subtlety drags after a while. It's still good and better than most drivel they're putting out. I think they could still stick the landing in a final season, I am interested to see where they go with Ryan and liked the Firecracker & Sage characters this season. Hughie is still my boy. Rooting for that kid.

You should watch Gen-V
The stories are absolutely intertwined

Mediocre season saved by its ending

I love JDM but we needed a season long storyline where everyone clearly knew he was a hallucination?

Obviously butcher wasnt going to just die of cancer or spend the final season dying after doing it all s4. Didnt need his tumour to have a mind of its own to have butcher decide he hates supes (literally his one personality trait).

bit redundant anyway since the ryan storyline already takes care of this change in attitude anyway

I loved the first 3 seasons but have little interest in the new season. Like yeah I get it's hollywood lefty but every season of "homelander = drumpfler ololol" is pretty boring. First season was by far the best and IMO it's gone downhill every season since.

I feel like this seasons gore porn was not as intelligent or funny or was just missing something compared to other seasons. Could just be me that’s changed.
